Good skiing with a chance of snow showers this afternoon.

Open, 11º (so warm! 22º warmer than yesterday morning). Today is forecast to be partly cloudy and 21º,

The snow is great, a nice hard pack base with tracks in 25km and a skating lane on 10km. The skiing is really, really good.

There is a kid ski race here this morning, race starts at 10, and they should be done around noon. They are very cute and fun to watch and cheer for. It is possible to ski around them. Chuck and I will be in the parking lot and we can help you. Woodcock and Snow Goose will be a good ski not involved in the race. If you ski Chickadee and Loon or Middle and Upper Blue Jay you will forget anyone else is even here. Or come this afternoon for a less hectic parking lot.

Lining up at a race here from 2017.

This is how is rolls this year, tailgate lunch breaks at the car.

Another day of fabulous skiing under blue sky.

Open, -11º and blue sky. Another wonderful day for a fabulous ski. All trails are open, 25 km.

Ian skied the Chickadee, and he said it is in great shape (and he is picky!). Andy skied the Chickadee/Loon, loved Chickadee and said Loon is really good, a nice ski right. now. Carl has been skiing the Woodcock/Snow Goose every day this week. I am sure he will be back out there today.

Today, Saturday, just a normal great ski day. Remember all our trails are one way, once you get out of the parking lot, even if the parking lot is busy, you only see people you catch, or people who catch you.

Tomorrow, Sunday the 23rd, the little tykes in red coats are having a ski race. There will be lots of kids with their parents here til about noon on Sunday. You can ski around them in the morning, or come in the afternoon, once they are finished. They are pretty darn cute to watch and good cheer leaders are always welcome.

All trails open and the skiing is super.

Open, -11º and cloudy at 6am. Forecast high today, 12º and sunny.

All trails open, 25 km. Skiing is really good. The tracks are in and holding up nicely.

Dick said the Chickadee was the best he has ever seen it this early in the season. Mary and Fern talked about the snow pack hardening. Both are right.

Groomed snow after it sets up is called hardpack. The definition from google-“This is an often-misunderstood snow term. When fresh snow becomes densely packed, it is hardpack. The snow has never melted and recrystallized, but has been tightly compressed through grooming, skier traffic, or wind exposure. … Hardpack retains a white color, unlike frozen granular snow.”

Hard pack is really nice skiing. If your skis are slipping on hard pack, work on your weight transfer.

Ian has the path between the Covid shed and the barn built up and packed out. He moved a lot of snow. This photo is pushing the snow around. He groomed it out last night. Check it out today it is beautiful.

Call to schedule a private lesson, a day or two notice is appreciated.

Keep your eyes open out in the woods, last week a couple skiers saw a fisher cat run up a tree.

Ask about swag if you are in need of a sweatshirt or t-shirt.

Great skiing! All trails open!

Open, 25º and cloudy at 7am. All trails open, 25 km! Really, nice skiing. Ian is grooming the low trails.

We had about 80 happy skiers yesterday. Fantastic midwinter conditions.

A few notes:

We have 3 great instructors available. If you want to be a better skier, let me know and we will hook you up. I need a day or two notice. Lessons are private and $50 per person.

The road…….is good, but it is plowed wide. The snowbanks might be over the edge, into the ditch. Once you get a tire into the ditch it sucks you in. Snow tires, 4 wheel drive, going slow, all the driving skills that usually help, don’t once you get over the edge. So move over, just not too far. Chuck’s advice, don’t crowd the edge of the road.

We have some swag available

T-shirts, sweatshirts, a few Yeti mugs left and some stickers.

Two more happy, smiling skiers. Thanks for the photo, Mary and Brian.
