A Beautiful Blue Sky Day

The skiing is fast. If you are new to skiing, it is a good time to try snowshoeing.

2º at 7:00am.

Forecast high, 25º.

Ian has been round and round with the groomer. There is skiable snow on top of frozen granular. No tracks.

This is double pole skiing and good for klister. Wax on waxed skis wore off yesterday in about 10 minutes.

I skied yesterday. I used soft, short, wide, no wax skis. It was fast and fun. I did not feel out of control.

If you are new to skiing it would be a great! day for a snow shoe. The sun is out, the sky is blue.

The temperature for the weekend is 43º, Saturday and 39º, Sunday. The snow slows down when it warms up. There are snowflakes in the forecast. Lots of snow would be so good. But it doesn’t take much to slow the skiing down.

The ground will be icy in places, parking lots, other places you may need to walk on. Put the ice cleats in the car, so you have them if needed. We have put down lots of sand, and I still do not go out there without the ice cleats on my shoes.

Better Than Nothing/ Time For A Snow Dance

hard fast skiingOPEN

The skiing is fast. Not for the faint of heart, not for beginners. If you are new to skiing, it is a good time to try snowshoeing.

6º at 7:00am.

Forecast high, 15º. Going to be cold. For info on dressing for the cold.

This is double pole skiing and good for klister. Fast, no tracks.

I am going to say this a different way. Beginner trails will ski at an intermediate level. Intermediate trails at an expert level. If you fall it will hurt.

If you are new to skiing it would be a great! day for a snow shoe. The sun is out, the weather is nice.

I am going to go ski the Turkey. And then I am going to get some sand to sand the path to the composting toilet.

The temperature for the weekend is 43º, Saturday and 39º, Sunday. The snow slows down when it warms up.

We Have Snow Left!

We are CLOSED today. 🙁
The picture above is from early this morning, before Ian started working with heavy machinery. We still have snow!
We will be open Thursday, the 25th.
The will be fast. Not for the faint of heart, not for beginners. If you new to skiing, it is a good time to try snowshoeing.

24º at 11:00am.
Forecast high, we have reached it, and the temperature is dropping.

1.03 inches of rain. The last rain, on January 12th, was 2 inches. So, not as bad. Unfortunately we didn’t start with as much snow to work with. And we didn’t end with snow sticking to the wet surface. So, it is very slick out there. Ian is driving around grinding it up to make a skiable surface. We won’t have any tracks set but it’ll be better than nothing. And I say again, the skiing will be fast. Not for beginners. If you are new to skiing, you should try snowshoeing. A great way to be outside, safely.

The ground will be icy in places, parking lots, other places you may need to walk on. Put the ice cleats in the car. Yak tracks are better than nothing. But I have still fallen with that brand on. Micro Spikes are really good, more difficult to get on and off. We have another brand this year that are working great, Ian bought them for us at Londonderry Hardware, they are called Stabil, the brand name, not a misspelling.

A Little Like Eeyore

We are CLOSED today. 🙁

30º at 7:00am.
Forecast high 42º.

Today is quite gloomy. It is icing and freezing and yucky! There is still snow on the ground, and a lot of rain coming. If we don’t loose too much snow, the next step, let the snow refreeze and grind up what’s left. Ian said on Sunday when he groomed the snow was getting thin, and he might not be able to till it again. All we can do is wait and reassess.

The picture above, on a happier note, customers who rented equipment went for a wonderful ski on Saturday and got engaged on the trail. How romantic, and fabulous. The smiles were a mile wide, the excitement and happiness palpable. After I took the picture, I did ask their permission to share it with you on the web site. Can you feel the smiles?
