We have skiing. The green trails and Grouse. Ok skiing. Loose frozen granular, and a few spots of frozen granular.

Open on Monday morning.

It is 21º at 6:30 pm. Getting cold overnight.

We shoveled the snow onto the trails where it was needed. We packed in the “new” snow with the “powder maker”. Ian went around and around with the Ginzu. And………

We have the green trails open. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and the Grouse. About 7 km, and 7 km more than we thought we might get. Is it perfect? Absolutely not! Is it skiing and better than nothing, you bet.

What to expect, some good skiing, some ok skiing, places where it isn’t so good. No tracks. What seems to make the difference between a good ski day and a bad ski day is the attitude you get out of your car with. So, if you really want to ski, we are here for you.

And it makes for a really good base for when we do get an inch or two or snow. So do your snow dances!

Closed today. Don’t give up hope. We are working to get back open.

Closed. It is 17º at 7:30 this morning. We had a dusting of snow overnight. Just barely a dusting.

It rained yesterday, but it could have been worse. The wind blew, but it could have been worse. The temperature stayed under 40º most of the day, then went briefly up to 48º. The snow left on the ground has turned into a great base.

The photo above is from this morning, the downhill on the Peregrine.

Ian is out on a machine. Just checking to see what work needs to be done.

I will let you know as soon as we know.

Spring skiing today is ok. Fast early, slowing down around noon. And closed tomorrow. It is going to be miserable. (Corrected headline)

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 6:30 am is 24º, the forecast high is 43º and sunny. Today is our 15 day skiing.

The temperature and the snow have been cold so far this winter. Which makes for good, consistent skiing. There was not a base under to support the soft fluffy powder. So grooming has been tricky and we haven’t been able to groom as much as we like.

Ian finally got it to pack into a base, and now the weather is doing it’s warm up thing.

We are choosing to call this a base consolidation event. Hoping this is the January thaw come early.

Yesterday the snow started off soft and nice, quickly went to wet, slow, and sticky. By the afternoon the snow glazed over and became hard and fast.

This morning will be fast! The skiing will slow down as the temperature warms up. Spring conditions. AND the best to be said about today is it is better than tomorrow.

We will be closed on Friday. Picking up sticks on Saturday, and figure out how much snow we will need be to be skiing again. You know we will be skiing again as soon as we can.

Ski early today, we have a race this afternoon. We will be open Thursday, closed Friday.

Open at 9 am. 19º this morning at 6 am. The forecast high today is 36º.

You may need Maxiglide on no wax skis. (ask if you don’t know about Maxiglide.)

17 km open total. Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine, all with a skate lane and a classic track. Chickadee is a narrower ski with a classic track.

The ski race is this afternoon, Kids, coaches and buses start arriving around noon. Official race start time is 2 pm. The race course is a combo of Turkey, Grouse and Peregrine.

And now about the weather……………Here goes. The forecast, or an educated guess, here goes.

Snow showers this afternoon while the temperature is 36º.

Thursday, 45º during the day and sun, we will be open.

Friday, rain will have started Thursday night at 34º, rain continuing into Friday with the temperature going up to 52º by 6am Friday. Not great. The temperature will start to drop in the afternoon, down to 17º Friday night and at some point is supposed to switch to snow. (side note, snow on the back end of rain does not usually amount to much snow, at least here.) And on top of all of that we have high wind warnings.

So…….today and tomorrow are good to ski. Ski early today or cheer the racers on as you ski by. Friday closed. Saturday we pick up sticks and figure out what is next.
