Skiing on the low trails, 10 km. A dusting of snow overnight.

Open, 10º, a dusting of snow overnight. Doesn’t take much snow to make the world beautiful again. The forecast high for today is 15º, sun and clouds.

10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine.

The dusting of snow is enough to make it pretty, but ski on your old skis today. Under the dusting are a few humps and bumps, some wet areas, a rock or twelve and some rough spots.

Get another ski day in. 10 km early season skiing.

Open, 25º, cloudy, and an expected high of 28º.

Snow is in the forecast for this afternoon and tonight. Not much an inch or so. But we will take every flake Mother Nature is willing to give us. Keep the Alberta Clippers coming!

10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine. The upper trails need a lot more snow.

And the photo below. The total wing span was 18 to 24 inches. I think Grouse. Andy thought owl, Chuck, before knowing the size, thought Blue Jay. Whatever it was I am glad I saw it!

Pretty good to good skiing on low snow.

Open, 18º, cloudy with a forecast high of 32º.

We have just enough snow. The skiing is pretty good. You can feel the humps and bumps of the forest. And just in case you hit a rock, don’t use your good skis.

The low trails are open with thin snow cover, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Goshawk, and Peregrine. With this small amount of snow, re-grooming is basically impossible.

Photo above, Ryan and Nick with their happy campers skiing after school last night. The BKL program has 120 kids registered, about 80 were here yesterday afternoon. First a good ski, and then play some games.

Thanks to Dick shoveling yesterday, there is more snow out on the Snow Goose and Woodcock. He told me he is going to ski for fun today. If you see him give him a big thank you!

Looks like the weather pattern will hold with temperatures below 32º for highs and cold nights. The next forecast snow is Wednesday. If the Alberta Clippers kick in we could get a quick inch here and there. Let it snow!

And what about the December full moon? That was quite a show!

Skiing on low trails. Another 2 inches of snow from yesterday.

Open, -6º to start the morning. Forecast high is 19ª. Yesterday’s squall gave us a fast 2 inches of new snow.

Low trails are ready to ski. (Above photos are on the Snow Goose from yesterday.) Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine. There are classic tracks here and there. You will feel the natural topography as you ski. There are rocks just underneath so old skis, or not your “good” skis are recommended. Also of note is a bigger wet spot way out on outer Snow Goose and a few others here and there. Very low snow early season skiing!

I don’t have to tell you, it is cold out this morning, by noon the temperature will be around 15º. The skiing will be worth the work of digging out your warm clothes. Dry shirt and socks, preferably wool. A neck gaiter, a hood, and a few layers. A dry shirt to drive home feels really good.
