Open, 7º and clear skies.  Forecast high 9º and mostly sunny. All trails open, 25 km. Freshly groomed this morning. 25 km classic and 6 km skate.  Best skiing of the year.  Loop of the day, Peregrine, Middle Blue Jay and Upper Blue Jay.

Happy Valentines Day to you! It will be a great day for a ski. Any loop will be good. I know it is cold outside. Think of it as finally winter. And we all want more winter. You all own or have purchased the warm clothes. Today you get to use them.

Mittens! Neck warmer, hand warmers, dry socks, and layers, so when you get too warm you can take something off.

Saturday’s high is around 23º, not cold at all. Just winter.

Get yourself organized and get outside and enjoy winter at its finest.

A Powder Day! POW, Protect Our Winters

Open, 27º at 7 am and light snow. Two inches of snow overnight and light snow falling, expected high today 29º and the sun is suppose to shine.

This is what the skiing looked like yesterday on Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Peregrine and Goshawk. Today the skiing is the photo above (arrow pointing up) with 2 inches of new snow on top. Who gets first tracks? Chickadee, Loon, Middle and Upper Blue Jay are more of a back country experience.

Skiing is really good! Bring your Maxiglide just in case. All trails are open. Feels really great to say that. Chickadee and Loon will be really nice today. I think I would choose Peregrine, Middle Blue Jay and Upper Blue Jay. That might be as good as it gets on a Thursday in February.

We have a new feature on the web site. A forum. You get to tell your story! Look at the bar on the top of the page, far right side, “skier ramblings. Here is a link to the ramblings page. You do have to register, click here. Cliff has some great ideas and the only rule is be kind.

And Now For A Beautiful Day

Open, 24º and clear skies. Forecast high 31º, mostly sunny. Skiing where Ian has groomed will be really good. Ian is grooming the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk and Peregrine and they are nice! You can ski the Chickadee, not groomed today, it will be beautiful, but a little rough.

*****Please note, NO SKATING on the Peregrine today. It is set up with a couple tracks for the race. And those tracks will be “noice”.

Also, today is Fish Chowder Day. I know it isn’t a National Holiday. But, here, at Wild Wings it is our own little/big Holiday. Come on over for a ski and some lunch. And thanks Dick for the fish!!!

The photo above is on the Waite’s Place Loop from last Sunday. This loop is accessible from the Chickadee.

We do have a high school ski race here this afternoon. Skiing early, you will avoid the crowds. If you ski later parking will be more congested, but once you get yourself out on the Woodcock, Snow Goose or the Chickadee, you will pretty much be on your own.

Start of the girls race, 1/2/19.

A Variable Conditions Day

Open, 30º at 7 am. Right this minute light snow is falling. Ian is grooming. The skiing will be fair to good. Where he is grooming looks good. Forecast for today is snow changing to misty rain, with a high temperature of 34º. Expect variable conditions. 20 km open for classic, 6 km of that also skate. Ask when you get here for specifics of the minute. He is not grooming the upper trails today. Again, ask if you are unsure.

Yesterday reminded me that some days are hard to predict. The snow is grooming out nicely today. Snow is falling as I type. As long as snow is falling the skiing will be slower. If it, (when it) changes to freezing rain that would speed the skiing up. Just be aware of your surroundings.

My feeling here is, any time, any day I get to be outside makes the day a good day!
