Open, 23º at 6:30am, 1/2 inch of new snow, expected high 35º. Fair to good skiing, with thin spots under the hemlocks. 1-3” of base. 10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and Peregrine open.

The photo. If this were a photo of me I would be falling on my face. This is a 9 year old, so he is building speed for the jump. The jump which has been being built there since 1982. The jump kids just know to build a jump. The more things change the more they stay the same.

A little about the weather for the next few days.

Friday, high temperature 26º, the skiing will be a little faster, but still ok to good.

Saturday, the skiing will be hard pack, slower (because of the cold temperature) and ok to good. The forecast high temperature is 1º. Use your cold weather gear and common sense. Lots of dry layers. Neck warmers and hoods. Mittens not gloves. Ask for advice if you are unsure.

Sunday, after a cold start to the day, the high will be around 20º and partly sunny. The skiing will still be ok to good, with thin cover.

Sunday night/Monday snow is forecast!!!!!!!!!!

FYI, the warming room will remain closed and rentals (with a mask) in the open room of the barn.

Open and skiing, 1/2 inch of snow overnight!

Open, 23º at 6:30am, 1/2 inch of new snow, expected high 35º. Fair to good skiing, with poor spots under the hemlocks. 1-3 inches of base. 10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and Peregrine open. Packed trails, no track.

Ian, Dick and Cliff worked on the Woodcock and Snow Goose, shoveling snow from off the trail, onto the trail. It was a long day for them, and Ian said there are still some thin spots out there. But a big thanks to the shoveling crew!!!

Fin and friends skied the Peregrine, lots of laps, and Fin told me it was really, really, good. Cliff said new skis on the Peregrine are ok, the coverage up there is minimal, but ok. They were all on classic skis. And remember there isn’t enough snow to set a track.

Perspective, is the skiing fabulous, lots and lots of snow perfect blue wax conditions? No. Is it skiing? Yes. Could it be worse? Much. Could it be better? Lots. Is it skiing? Yes. You get the point.

A little about the weather for the next few days.

Today, warm, around 35º, new snow this morning 1/2 an inch. Maybe some more snowflakes during the day. The skiing is ok to good and you may need maxiglide.

And a very rare photo of Ian.

Open for Season Pass Holders today!

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, season pass holders only Wed. and Thurs. -2º at 7:30am, expected high 27º. As of Friday, open for everyone. Three to 4 inches of snow on the ground. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and Peregrine open.

The photo above is from yesterday as Ian was working. There will be lots of places where the skiing is just like this. We do not have enough snow to put in a track. Under the hemlocks on the Woodcock or Snow Goose, the coverage is real thin. Ian shoveled yesterday, more shoveling today. But, there just is not a lot of snow.

Ian said the Peregrine is in pretty good shape. Skate skis up there should be pretty good.

And after saying that, don’t use your brand new skis. Use the old ones, the rock skis.

The swag is all in. Photos to come. T-shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, some Yeti travel mugs, and new Skida. I will be getting everything out today. Get here early for the best selection.

Season Pass holders ski on Wednesday!

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Closed, Tuesday, January 11, -6º at 7:30am. Three inches of snow from the cold front and lake effect snow yesterday.

Open, Wednesday, January 12, FOR SEASON PASS HOLDERS only. Limited skiing, no track, about 10 km.

The plan is to be open on Wednesday and Thursday for season pass holders. Open for everyone as of Friday, the 14th.

The skiing will be poor to good. Some places will be fine and other places are really thin. We have 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground. So no track, Ian is working on packing it down so the skating lane will be hard, but a bit bumpy. I do recommend rock skis if you have a choice. We still have some shoveling to do. And will need to shovel on the weekend if anyone is looking for a fun activity.

The photo above is my yearly obligation of the skier crossing sign. But really what is most exciting is the baby snow banks!
