This is Harry, the broad wing hawk from 2016. A fledgling, he had fallen out of the nest and couldn’t fly and had a bum wing. He made it to the new field and we, (Chuck) fed him mice trapped around the property. By the end of the summer he had healed and flew south. See more below.

So, there are a couple broad wing hawks around this summer. But the hawk population seems low. Look around your place, we have way more red squirrels and chipmunks. Do you? This is part of a natural cycle. When hawk and owl population are high they lower the squirrel, chipmunk, etc. populations. Hawk and owl population then drop and the squirrel, chipmunk populations go back up.
