Grooming  the north field.

Open, 13º at 7am and sunny. We will have about 12km open, including 5km for skate. The warm temperatures and rain transformed the snow, it is fast, but very skiable! We have tracks in where they would go in. We still have 7-12” of packed snow on the lower trails.

The Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse Turkey, Goshawk and Peregrine are open. Ian is checking on the Chickadee this afternoon for blow downs. Looks like it could be open Wednesday and Thursday. Then we will see what the Friday/Saturday weather brings.

The forecast as of Monday morning for the Tuesday/ Wednesday storm, looks like around 12″ of snow/sleet. Much needed and will give us a great boost and some extra snow to work with for the weekend.

Skiing!

Out for a ski. 2.9.2019

Open, 10º at 7am. Sunny, light wind. Forecast high 22º. Ian has been round and round with the groomer and the skiing is very skiable, and fast.  He put a track in where the snow would take a track. So there aren’t tracks everywhere. 12 km groomed out Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk and Peregrine. If you have any questions, please ask.

This morning while grooming. 2/10/2019. Happy Birthday Ian!

Yesterday we had about 100 skiers, out of the 100, 1 person said it was too fast for her to ski. We suggested snow shoeing to a few people, if the skiing was too fast, they could switch, and they kept skiing, no one switched. Most people were happy to be out, happy to have any snow, happy to be on skis.

Will and his dad skied many k’s yesterday. They were smiling. Lots of k’s and not much work. Good day for  glide.

This is Will. He is just returning from some races in Europe. Will had a big smile, fast skiing! 2/9/2019

Another beautiful sunrise! 2/2/2019

Open, 12º and cloudy. The wind blew during the night, but seems to be dying down. The sun will come out tomorrow, and later this afternoon.

A day in the life of a groomer, Ian is out there driving around, and around beating this stuff up. He started about 4am, will someone please bring him a breakfast sandwich!  The plan is to have about 12km open, including 5km for skate. As long as the grooming goes well, please check in when you get here for details. Lots of warm and rain completely transformed the snow, it will be very fast, but skiable! We still have 7-12” of packed snow on the lower trails.

Ian will drive around the upper trails later this weekend, to assess the damage and make a plan for the next round of snow, forecast for Tuesday/Tuesday night. We are hoping they will be open again by Wednesday/Thursday.

Ahh, The Weather

Beautiful sunrise kind of morning. Not today, but we need beauty, and this is coming in the next few days!

Closed today. 32º at 7am and raining. The forecast for today: temperature rising this morning to around 40°, then falling this afternoon. The rain will possibly change to snow, minimal accumulation expected. Ian will start grinding it up as soon as the temperature is cool enough and the snow dry enough, we expect to be open on Saturday with decent skiing.

Jonathan is all thumbs up for good skiing!

Get ready, good skiing to come, there’s snow in the forecast for next week. Be prepared to drop everything and run up to ski, because the weather can change everything very quickly!
