Closed, not enough snow fell.

Closed. 6.5 inches of new snow. This snow needs to sit, absorb some standing water and harden up.

This is/was a good base building event, but we need more snow in order to groom.

The snow stuck to the trees and it is beautiful out there. The roads were awful and if you didn’t have you snow tires on, you’ll try to make an appointment today.

So for now the trails are closed until we get more snow, please do not walk or ski on the trails.

One snowflake at a time here. I know the forecast looks like snow. But, we will have to see in the morning what really happens. Stay tuned, we will do what we can.

In the mean time, we have been busy.

New bridges are part of the work going on here. New bridges sure are pretty! I get laughed at when I don’t walk on them and walk around. We had a big push to get work done on the Woodcock and Snow Goose. Long days, Ian starting at sun up! We had lots of help, and the best help ever!

The work is pretty much endless and long. But the rewards are great! Most days it is a pretty nice day at the office. On the rainy, wet days it is muddy and cold. We bring along extra gloves and socks. Ian fell in one of the brooks last week, filled his boot. I mean take it off and empty the water out of the boot full of water. The boot empties and the work continues. Hot chocolate and tea help get through the cold, wet days. The sunny bright blue days take care of themselves.

Holy smokes, that was fast! The excavator is here and ready to work. We bought it from a small business, one man shop in Worchester, MA. We looked, tested and decided on Friday, transferred money on Monday and it was delivered on Tuesday. One small business supporting another. This is going to be amazing! And I’ll bet you’re not even surprised when I say, Ian is a really good operator.

Speaking of small businesses, this happened this summer also. Mountain Cuts, a small business based in New Mexico made a beautiful trail map of Wild Wings. Mountain Cuts makes and sells maps of 160 Alpine, downhill areas. We are the first Nordic ski area with a beautiful wooden map! So cool! And amazing! This is a link to their site if you want to buy the map. I am buying mine today.
