Snowy Friday

down track one way

A dusting of new snow overnight. The skiing is really, really good. A shot of the down track above.
In case you missed it I posted a video on Facebook, here is the link, skiing down the “down track”.

The 10km that are open are great. The 6+ inches of new snow was fabulous, but not enough on top of the other hard snow to get the longer, harder, bumpier trails open. If the forecast is correct and next Tuesday we get 3-5 inches of snow at 31º that will help us get the Upper and Middle Blue Jay going again. The Chickadee??? we keep trying to talk to the loggers but have had no luck.

We like this and thought you might too! I’m so hi-tech. I was just holding my phone in my hand as I skied down the hill! This is a very low resolution version. Check out the original on our Skiing Gallery on SmugMug where you’ll find lots more Wild Wings photos.

January 2, 2018

The skiing is pretty darn nice. The high about 11º today. And a dusting of snow. Cold snow is sparkly, light and topping off everything. The moon was setting, the sunrise a little pink/orange. And the stars……… I get up and go down to start the fires in the barn around 6am. And the colder it is the harder it gets to get dressed and get out. But the show the sky puts on makes it all worth it.

Today will be warmer, but only 11º. You still need to be smart about your clothing choices.
Wear the neck gaiter. Wear the wool socks. One good pair. Darn Tough and Smart Wool are both a great choice, there are others. A good hiking sock. Please don’t try to get by with thin cotton socks. And the toe warmers on the top of your toes, the experiments show to work best.
