New Snow On The Way And Really Good Skiing

Where’s Larry?

Open, 17º at 6:30 am and cloudy. Snow is in the forecast and the temperature is expected to be around 34º.

Skiing is good. All trails are open. We are not grooming this morning, because of the new snow which might mix with sleet or rain. Skiing will still be good.

All trails are good. Dick said his favorite trail yesterday was Upper Blue Jay. Nice tracks, the snow stayed powdery, a good reason to go up high, and it was fun.

Chickadee has been lovely. The first hill on the Chickadee can throw people for a loop. So some people take their skis off and walk down. And then it throws lots of people for a loop. Typically if you have to walk down a hill you should find an easier trail to ski. If you don’t want to go down that first hill come talk to us we will show you how to walk on the road and not wreck the trail.

Count ‘um, 6 trails come together at this junction! Click or tap the image to make it pan, then you can drag it wherever you want. There are buttons for high res and full screen too. Do you know where this is?

Another Really Great Day For A Ski

Open, 23º and sunny. Forecast high 26º and mostly sunny. All trails open and the skiing is really good. 25 km classic and 6 km skate. Ian and Jonathan have been out grooming and they are both happy with how the trails are grooming out.

The weekend was really good skiing. We were busy, lots of skiers enjoying the fabulous conditions. We have been so lucky. Good snow, just enough, and a really good groomer with really good equipment. Wow.

Today you get the great snow, the great grooming and fewer people. A great day to be out.

From the weather forecast, the week ahead looks good. Tuesday, snow is expected, we will not be grooming, you get a powder day. Wednesday, all groomed out again and it looks good for the rest of the week.

Wow, POW, Protect Our Winters, Please

Open, 19º at 6:30 am, clear skies, beautiful moon. High today 33º and clouding up. And there was a half inch of snow overnight.

All trails open, 25 km classic tracks and an additional 6 km skate. Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk, Peregrine, Middle and Upper Blue Jay, Chickadee, Loon and Waite’s Place Loop.

Many, many happy skiers. I heard the Chickadee was amazing. The Middle Blue Jay was so much fun. The trails were/are great.

Ian went around the Chickadee three time last night with the Ranger and the Ginzu. (I know to some of you that doesn’t mean anything.) And was out there at 4 am shoveling spots and putting in 2 tracks. That is really what you want to know, you can ski and it is easier to talk to your ski buddy.

He is out now in the Pisten Bully on the low trails. The skiing is really good. Hard pack, if you know what that means. Chuck said, “Just really nice skiing.”

We are fortunate to be in an area where our elevation and topography gives us more. And we also work hard, to have really good skiing.

Special thanks to Cliff for the photo below. But really thanks to Cliff for all the help after I spilled coffee on my lap top yesterday morning. This keyboard for my IPad is very helpful.

Another Super Ski Day

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, -9º and sunny skies. Expected high today 23º, starting sunny, clouds rolling in.

All trails open. All skiing is good to great. Middle Blue Jay is a little bumpy. 25 km of classic along with 6 km of skate.

The temperature for today will be perfect. It will feel like winter instead of almost spring. You have purchased the warm clothes, wear them, also being careful to not over dress.

If you are new or newer to this sport remember you make you own heat. You are not trying to stay warm on the lift, or just skiing down hill.

This sport is also, usually quieter and not as hectic. With that being said, this is a busy weekend. You will see more people in the parking lot and base area this weekend. Once you get on a trail you won’t see many people. The trails are one way and you see the people who pass you or you pass. Or you see people at an intersection.

Cliff took the panorama below on Thursday where upper and lower Peregrine loops meet. Click it once to start it playing or drag it right or left. There are high def and full screen buttons too.
