Did a little painting and gave the barn a face lift. It was so dry, the wood soaked up gallons of stain!
Ian spent a lot of time in the excavator this summer and fall, continuing to smooth, flatten, dig out rocks, build ditches and put in culverts. This is on the first section of the Woodcock, he even worked on “the first hill”.
The excavator needs a name, you know something like Mike Mulligan and Mary Ann. Ian and ???
This was/is my pile of wood to cut, and then, my split pile of wood. I really felt like I was getting the logs cut up and the log pile was shrinking. About that time, my good friend Willie piled some more logs on the log pile. This wood is all cut to 16 inches and is for the 2 barn stoves, the sauna, Gretchen & Ben’s new wood stove, and the fire pit. I processed about 7 cords, and best guess, still have 3 or 4 cords to move and stack.
My September and October days at the office! Time to mow the trails! Peach loves going in the woods with us, and hangs out at the four-wheeler, just waiting for me to get done with the job.
This photo shows why I love mowing ski trails. Looking behind me and seeing the ribbon of leaves trailing thru the woods. And my favorite trail to be on in October, the Upper Blue Jay.
