A Great Day For A Beautiful Ski

Fresh tracks. Photo taken 1/4/2019.

Open, 14º at 7am, 7.8 inches of new snow, and partly cloudy, pink skies. The forecast high 16º with snow showers. The skiing is great. Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk and Peregrine open at 9am. Chickadee opening later this morning. Then working on the Middle and Upper Blue Jay. (42.2 inches of snow in January.)

Time to pay attention to the ice on the brooks. Between the cold, rain, cold, warm, cold, the show gets better and more interesting. Down along the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Styles Brook is beautiful. The little brooks that meander along the trails are also quite interesting. The water rose and fell during the rain, left a mess, but also left some really interesting, beautiful spots behind.

Yep, Really Good Skiing!

Perfect tracks.

Open, 8º at 7am, cloudy with snow starting to fall mid-day.

Open: Chickadee, with Waite’s Place Loop, NO Loon. If anyone really wants Loon, we can talk and I will loan you a shovel. Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine are all open and wonderful. Carl B. skied in yesterday and was so excited about the great skiing he skied it all again.

Ian and Heather shoveled yesterday on Waite’s Place Loop and Upper Blue Jay. 6 hours, so 12 hours total. And Dick joined them for part of that. And today Ian, Cindy and Chuck are taking on the Middle Blue Jay. We had LAST WEEK, 3.65 inches of rain in the Wednesday/Thursday rain event. Someone asked me if that was a typo. And no it wasn’t, and the damage that it caused on the trails was substantial. But we are almost back together for the next snow to fall on top of the covered up spots.

Snow 1 Inch, Good Skiing

Open, 5º at 7am. Clear skies today, clouding up overnight, and snowy on Tuesday. The skiing today is really good. The lower trails open at 9am with the Chickadee re-opening mid-morning. Middle and Upper Blue Jay by Wednesday.

Yesterday we had 6 trail work groups out. Group 1 on the first part of Chickadee.

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to work we go.

Ian shoveled the Turkey, Dick was behind him with the loppers(clippers)  and another shovel.

Who’s rear is this I think I know, his house is in the village though….

………We watch him fill our woods with snow.

And many happy skiers.

We had so many happy skiers yesterday. Many groups of women on women’s weekends.  A group of Boy Scouts from Manchester. All around a great weekend.

10 km Of Nice Sugary Snow, Groomed Up And Ready To Ski

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 8º at 7am. A mostly sunny morning. The forecast is for clouds and snow, with a high around 30º. The skiing is a sugary, loose granular snow. The skiing is pleasant and quick.

Ian is grooming again this morning the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine and they are really nice. Chickadee is requiring an army of snow farmers shoveling today. With the hope of the next major snow filling it back in. And after Chickadee we will work on Upper and Middle Blue Jay.
