Open, 25º at 6:30am. Forecast high 31º. 14 inches of snow at 5:30am, and suppose to snow all day.
It only snowed here 14 inches. I know there were places where it snowed more. But, you know what, 14 inches will give you perfect, fabulous, wonderful skiing.
Ian is in the snow cat. Jonathon on the snow machine. Chuck is plowing the parking lot. I know they will work all day to get you skiing in great tracks, as long as I get them egg sandwiches. (Chuck’s birthday today!)
The plan is to go around and pack everything out. And then put a track in. Chickadee will be open, but it won’t happen until late today or tomorrow. Ask for specifics when you get here.
I have looked at the long range forecast, this would be a perfect time to come up and ski. Looks like some of the best skiing of the year for at least the next 10 days or so.
One final note. Ian woke at his house in South Derry last night at 1am. Looked out, snowing HARD! Went out and Nika jumped in and sank, over her head, she turned around and went back in. His home location had been in one of the bands of snow that opened up and dumped. He packed his stuff. Hopped in his truck and headed over here to spend the night so he would be able to groom this morning. The snow in his driveway was so deep it went over his headlights and he then couldn’t see. When he got here, he slept in the warming room/yoga studio. It is a great space, and he had a pad and sleeping bag, but. Just what he does so we can all have great skiing.

Can you give us an update on snow depth?

20 inches at 7:45pm on Thursday. And the skiing is going to be so good tomorrow!
Thank you all for your commitments to providing the best XC skiing south of Montpelier (& maybe north too! At least less than half the time to get to you!!!) Hope Chuck has a happy birthday, and many more in good health!

Thanks, Paul. Paul is in the know! We were named best nordic skiing in the southern part of the state. Pretty cool, huh! So much excitement about new snow today, I forgot to share the link. I will post the link tomorrow, and if you can’t wait you can find the link on the Wild Wings Ski Touring Center facebook page.
That’s a lot of snow. Hope you can keep the grooming machines and their drivers fueled!
I see the single chair weather blog located a really heavy band of snow and Wild Wings isn’t in it. Just as well. Too much makes it hard for people to get there!
Did you see his comment that within that band they are getting 6″ per hour?

And it did snow that much at Ian’s. His house was 27″. We are now at 20″. And all the trails have been groomed, the skiing was good today and will be better tomorrow. What a great day!
