Saturday evening update: we survived the thaw, and will be open again in the morning! Probably starting with about 5km, with more throughout the day, up to 10km. The skiing will be fairly quick; and we might not get classic tracks set right away. Expect a few thin areas and icy spots, but we will be working throughout the day to fix these.

We got a few snow showers today (under a half inch), which will help, but we’re dealing with mostly white ice. We will grind it up with everything we have: Ian will start early in the snowcat, then Chuck will take over and Ian will use the Ginzu, and Mindy will use the snowmobile and powder-maker.

To start: Turkey, Woodcock, Snowgoose. Peregrine next, then Grouse.

We got 2.03 inches of rain in this storm. We’ve had 3″ of rain since our last plowable snow – but we’ve had a few little non-plowable snowfalls which kept our skiing decent. We still have 6-8″ of snow in most places, with extra on the sides of the trail for snow farming. We are lucky!!!
