New track on the Peregrine and Turkey. 4/4/2019

Closed/Open for season pass holders, 18º and sunny. Spring skiing out there. As the temperatures warm up  the snow will soften. Expect variable conditions. The best snow is up on the Peregrine, Middle Blue Jay and Upper Blue Jay. After the wind on Wednesday night, watch out for sticks and branches.

Ian went around the Peregrine, Turkey and Grouse. In most places the track went in like the photo. In some places the snow and ice were too hard. And in a few spots the snow was too soft. Awww, spring.

The days have been amazing. 4/4/2019

And, gathering and boiling again soon.

Closed/Open for season pass holders, 29º and sunny. A beautiful blue sky. The high today is only about 35º, so slower skiing in the sun and faster in the shade. Expect variable conditions. The best snow is up on the Peregrine, Middle Blue Jay and Upper Blue Jay.

If Ian can time the softening of the snow he is going to groom the Peregrine and the Turkey.  I’ll let you know tomorrow.

And maple syrup. Chuck and the neighborhood kids gathered sap on Tuesday afternoon, we boiled that Wednesday 10am to 2pm. Chuck and his helpers gathered again Wednesday afternoon and we just kept boiling. We made 10 gallons of syrup, which for us on 200 taps and a 2.5′ X 8′ evaporator is decent. The wind started blowing Wednesday mid-day, and we didn’t lose power until about 7 last night. Just enough day light to finish up with the help of head lamps.

We still gather about 75 buckets. Photo courtesy Jane MacKugler.

Time to get ready for next year.

Closed/Open for season pass holders, 27º, sunny. Two inches of snow overnight. The snow underneath is hard. Tuesday the temperatures will warm up and the skiing will be “spring skiing”. Variable conditions. Expect the snow to change. You might need Maxiglide.

We are not sitting down at the barn. So, really, this time of year is just for season pass holder.  Just another reason to buy a season pass.
