Today, if you are a skier, is gross.

Closed, 44º at 7 a.m. and not good skiing weather.

In the 24 hours we had 1.2 inches of rain. Ian had been a downer about the weather forecast and I was trying my darndest to be positive. Well this weather sucks. Chuck, on the other hand, says it is early in the season and more snow and great skiing are coming. Mr. Optimistic.

Warm and wet today. The temperature will be dropping all day, back down to 23º by tonight. There is suppose to be some snow as the temperatures drop. We are hoping for more than a couple flakes.

The photo above is the new Skida order. Hats, neck warmers and headbands. They make good holiday gifts.

Closed Today and Tomorrow, Then?

Closed, 33º at 7:30 a.m. Expected high 43º and rain. Tomorrow warmer.

Darn it. With the warm weather and rain we are closing down to hope we are saving the base.

Ian spread a little holiday cheer yesterday. Festive outhouses! Don’t they look good. And Ian put the plow and the tiller on the Pisten Bully. He is ready to use as soon as the snow allows.

So, your job as of today. Snow Dance!!!!!

Another Really Good Day For A Ski

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 4º at 6:30am and clear sky. High by this afternoon 29º. This is a picture of the kids skiing on the Turkey yesterday.

We have 18 km of trails open. 18 km classic and 6 km skate. Skiing was and still is today really, really good. Is it perfect, (which is Ian’s goal), no. There are a few places where you think, yep, this isn’t perfect, but the skiing is fabulous. The snow is a nice packed powder, the sky is blue (this morning), and we have 1 more day of great skiing before 2 days of rain.

Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Peregrine and Grouse are open. 12 km classic, 6 km skate. The Chickadee is also open, 6 km. Ian said expert skiers on the Chickadee.

The weather is about to change, temperatures will go up all day today. 29º by this afternoon. Monday and Tuesday are in the 40ºs with rain expected. We will be closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We will access and fix and get open again as quickly as we can, hoping for Thursday, stay tuned.

If you are in need of a new hat, neck gaiter or something pretty we have new Skida hats in. Come check it out for yourself or a Christmas gift.

New Snow And Sunshine

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 9º and mostly sunny. The expected high is 21º and mostly sunny. More snow all day yesterday. 3.3 inches by the time the snow stopped last night when the clouds parted, and the half moon lit up the sky.

All feed back from skiers is the skiing is great!

Ian is using the Ranger and the Ginzu (the medium size groomer) to groom this morning. I was walking the dogs and met up with Ian at the Woodcock road crossing. He said the skiing is decent early season skiing. The track is going is well in places and in spots the cover is thin. We have had quite a few skiers and no one has come in and said they hit a rock. This definition of thin is more that the track won’t be as perfect as Ian would like.

The skiing today will be good, (or better). The temperature tomorrow will be right around 32º and mostly sunny, skiing still good. You will need Maxiglide. And Monday and Tuesday rain is in the forecast. We will be closed Monday and Tuesday. We will reopen as soon as the temperatures and snow allow.
