Great skiing and sparkly trees. Great combo.

Open, -2, clear sky, beautiful sunrise. Forecast high 21º and sunny. Another really, great day of really great skiing.

All trails open and the skiing is great! 25 km open, 25 km classic and 10 km skate. In the parking lot on Saturday I heard over and over how nice the skiing is.

Lots of skiers, lots of fabulous skiing. After the weather we ended up with, WE ARE SO LUCKY! The skiing is that good. And Ian is really good at grooming.

Yesterday was the kind of day where we all took pictures all day.

And from yesterday also……..a porcupine waddling down the road for a smile. Thanks Cherise M. for the photo.

Open, all trails, 25 km, 25 classic and 10 km skate.

Open, 6º and cloudy. Forecast high18º afternoon sun.

All trails are open. The skiing is good, faster than is has been, but good. Some granular snow mixed into the snow. This storm did not produce big snow for us, but we did come out ahead. About 4.4 inches of new snow, or a snowinsh type of precipitation.

Ian is in the snow cat and Jonathan rode the snow machine.

The Snow Goose/Woodcock will be really good. Jonathan said Chickadee is wonderful and beautiful. There is still ice in the trees, and snow sticking to the ice. It is quite a pretty show.

Closed today. Remember when I told you the weather forecasts were often wrong about snow?

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Closed, 25º and sleeting. We have a net gain of 1.6 inches. The precipitation fell as a little bit of everything, rain, sleet, snow, ice. The 1.6 inches of “stuff” had 1.99 inches of water in it. That is a lot of water. 1 inch of water can easily produce 12 inches of snow.

So for now, we wait for the snow to dry out. I will repost if anything changes. We plan to be open tomorrow, we are hoping for some snow to fall today.

And in the mean time, I have a few old photos of Ben Ogden. He is from Landgrove and skiing in the Olympics. His first race is on February 8th.

We are closed today, rain.

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Closed, 35º and rainy. 0.08 inches of rain overnight. The light rain will continue, changing to snow. The snow is supposed to add up.

I can only do my best to make a guess from the weather forecasts I’ve listened to. The weather channel says over 12 inches overnight and 3 to 5 tomorrow. We are in the 6 – 12 inch range in most other forecasts. And we all know they could be really wrong. Three years ago the forecast was for 20″ of snow and we go 6″ of sleet.

Of course we are hoping for the highest amount of snow the snow Gods bestow. Let it snow!

Skiing Saturday will feel perfect.
