Closed, 28º at 6:30 on Friday morning. Most of New England is enjoying a snow day today. It’s beginning to look a lot like winter!

If the snow stays dry enough to groom, we will be open on Saturday. Low trails only to start.

The forecast is 10 – 16 more inches of snow today and tonight.

I know you are excited to ski, but we are on a hurry up and wait to see what happens schedule. We are as antsy as anyone to get out there. But the temperature is going to go up to 32º this afternoon and into the evening and we know it will pay to wait.

So enjoy your snow day. A fire and hot chocolate. Snow shoe a path for your dog. If you put on some skis remember to use Maxiglide or something to keep the snow from icing on. (Olive oil if you have nothing else.) We have switched to Mountain Flow eco wax, it doesn’t have any petroleum products and will be better for everyone including the environment. Ask about it next time you’re here. And we all know their new Nordic rep, Simi Hamilton!

Snow is in the forecast!

Remember when. December 17th, 2020. 22″ on the photo morning. And 44″ storm total.

Closed, 28º at 7:30 on Thursday morning. The sky is mostly blue and the sun is shining.

We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground. The ground is white, and looks good. It isn’t enough to ski on. But wait……….

The forecast is for snow. Not the light fluffy snow like above. But good old ski the east, heavy, wet snow. Base building snow. The forecast sounds promising. But it is just a forecast. Based on the forecast we will work Friday packing and shoveling. And if everything lines up, be open on Saturday morning.

The best guess for snow totals, by looking at a couple of forecasts and then averaging them out, 11 to 21 inches. Somewhere in there. The numbers I used were from The Weather Channel and NOAA. The closest to Peru weather forecast it The West River Weather Guy, he hasn’t updated yet this morning. Another good weather source, Skiology Weather and News. And then we have to remember all these forecasts are based on models and then educated, best guesses.

Early season pass prices good until December 20, 2022. To buy online link here.

The ground is white, we need more SNOW. And a link if you still want to get a season pass.

Closed, 9º at 6:30am. Clear sky and cold. The 4 inches of snow settled down to about 3 inches.

The tracks are on the Ranger and it is ready to work. Ian used the Ranger to pull the roller around the Peregrine. There is so little snow, the roller was banging on the rocks and was really loud. The noise is a reminder of just how many rocks are on the trails, and how the nice heavy snow expected at the end of the week will give us good base. Snow dance for snow/sleet or sleet/snow. The combo is amazing base. And while we are asking for something over which we have no control, we’d really like 8-12 inches of the amazing base building white stuff.

If you would still like to purchase you pass. Here’s the link.

With the above link you can also purchase gift certificates, or other gifts. Send me an email and we can work out the details of any gift.

Nice to finally get a little snow!

Closed, 21º at 7am. Four inches of snow by this morning. This is not enough snow to work with. Closed for skiing and snow shoeing.

This snow might be enough to pack down in some spots. Mostly we need the ground to freeze and the wet areas to drain. The next few cold nights will help freeze the remaining standing water.

And then we wait. Wait for more snow. We know there is another weather event coming at the end of the week. Do your part. Buy new ice skates, break your snow shovel. Do your snow dance, whatever it takes to keep this event all snow.

As wait impatiently for enough snow to ski, we have been staying busy. One of my projects from last week.
