Open, 15º and 2 inches of new snow. The wind is blowing and the sun is rising into a clear, blue sky.

Forecast high today24º. Clear sky early, clouding up in the afternoon.

The low trails are open, 10 km of good skiing.
The Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine. The snow cat with the tiller working and the new snow makes really good skiing. The photo below is from this morning.

Today the skiing today will be the same all day. Because the high temperature will stay below freezing, around 24º.

But spring is here. Change is all around us. On most spring days the ski conditions can change 3 or 4 times a day.

The birds are singing their spring songs. And mud season here. Today won’t be as bad, because the temperature will stay cold. Drive slow on our road, slow works best in wash boards and pot holes. Where there are ruts, remember, drive slow, don’t stop, and aim high.

And, Ian in the groomer this morning;

Loose granular snow, groomed up nicely, good skiing.

Open, 32º and cloudy skies. Loose granular surface grooming up nicely. Skiing is good. Open trails, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, Peregrine. Open, not groomed today, Chickadee, and Loon. Upper and Middle Blue Jay closed until further notice.

The snow is great, Ian has spent hours in the groomer this week. Tuesday and Wednesday about 17 hours each day. And only 6 – 10 hours each day since. Holy cow Batman, I am tired just thinking about it.

The forecast for today is 37º, and cloudy. Today will be slower skiing than tomorrow.

Please do not remove your skis and walk on the trails, it makes big holes. You should turn and side step, up or down, if you feel you need extra help.

Toe to snow is good. (The skiing will be good today.)

Open, 20º and cloudy. Skiing will be good and all trails are open except the Middle and Upper Blue Jay.

Yesterday’s skiing, today is similar;

The forecast is rain showers this afternoon. If it is raining the skiing will be good, you just need a good shell.

Yesterday Dick and Cliff had a long, long ski, (about 20 km) and found the measuring stake out at Styles Junction. The snow has settled, a little, and the measuring stick is 48 inches long. This new snow is making people giddy!

Looking Back…

We have a poster our friend Wilma Donaldson made for us about 25 years ago. The photo is from film and Wilma was teaching photography at the time. She took the shot on the Snow Goose of her husband Jim after a big storm. Ian took another photo from approximately the same location yesterday.

This is the day, really great skiing!

Open, 20º and clear skies. Storm total 32 inches. The Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk, Woodcock and Snow Goose and Peregrine are all groomed with a skate lane and a track. The Chickadee has been groomed with a track and will be a lovely ski, and the Blue Jay is a work in progress and won’t be happening today as the snow will get too sticky.

Skiing today is really good. Tomorrow rain is in the forecast for late in the day. Saturday and Sunday both look like good ski days.
