Winter is back! Mid-winter skiing to start the day.

Open, 13º at 7:30 am. Storm snow total, 24.6 inches. Soft fluffy wonderful, sparkly snow.

10 km, the low trails. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse and Peregrine.

Classic skiing will be better than skate skiing until the skate lane to hardens up.

Parking is limited due to mud. Carpool if that would work for you, please.

The snow is amazing and beautiful. The high temperature is 33º, and with the sun, by noonish, the snow will be getting sticky. It might be a MaxiGlide day, bring it along if you have some. We do have some in the shop if you need it.

Open Sunday morning. Ten km.

Open on Sunday morning. 18 inches so far and still snowing. We have waited all day for the snow to turn to a mixed precipitation and the snow continued. Jonathan has been on the snow machine and Ian is in the snow cat, and winter is here for another couple of days.

Open tomorrow; Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, and Peregrine. 10 km. The skiing will be mid-winter skiing at it’s finest.

Not today. Planning for Sunday if all goes well.

Closed. We are hoping to open Sunday. The temperature is 22º at 7 am and the overnight snowfall was 7.3″.

We have lost so much base. In places we lost all the base and in some places there is still ok base and in some places the there is a snow/ice mix that melted from underneath and the snow base is floating. (That’s a fun one to walk on, breaking through and tripping.)

This photo is from the Blue Jay, it is representative of the coverage in the woods. But even up on the Chickadee there are places with no snow left.

Closer to the barn the snow cover looked like this.

Today, the ground is covered with 8 inches of new snow. Snow is still falling, but the forecast is to change to mixed precipitation around noon. So we wait. I will post again as soon as I know anything worth sharing.

And today, the snow has covered everything and it is beautiful.

One more spring day. Fast and not great this morning. Slow and mushy this afternoon.

Open, 32º at 7 am and the sun is coming up to clear sky. The forecast high today is 55º, and clouding up late in the day.

The Turkey, Grouse and Peregrine are open.

Right this minute the snow is hard and fast and frozen the way the mush left it yesterday. There is enough snow to ski on, but not enough to groom. Dirt and leaves are starting to come through. There is enough snow you can ski around, according to Herb and Kathy. They skied between 3:30 and 5 on Wednesday afternoon. And said Peregrine is your best bet for better coverage with Turkey and Grouse being ok.

Timing is everything. Yesterday the snow did not soften until around noon. Folks came to ski about 11:30 and the snow was still hard, frozen, fast. By 12:30 the snow was soft and mushy and a spring ski.

My best guess on timing; aim for later this morning, around 10:45 But that is all it is. A guess. Tuesday the snow was soft at 10 am and the temperature was 40º. Wednesday the snow didn’t soften until noonish, and the temperature was 45º.

A photo from this morning.
