Another Great Day For A Ski

Open, 16º and clear skies. Forecast high 25º and sunny. Good skiing, soft snow, fairly fast. A few thin spots here and there. Everything but Middle Bluejay is open, Loon is humpy and bumpy. 20 km classic, 6 km skate.

The cover is thin in spots, but Ian has done a great job shoveling and and grooming. The skiing is good.

During this year, where every flake counts, last night’s quarter of an inch of snow helps make the skiing better.

The snow in the photo looks blue. The color of the snow is because of the light, early morning or late afternoon light shadows cause the snow to look blue. Sometimes snow looks blue because of the moisture in the snow. Today’s blue was early morning light.

It has been an interesting year so far, we haven’t had much snow. Twice we’ve lost almost all the snow, and luckily it has snowed again. We have the new (to us) PistenBully but there isn’t quite enough snow to use it in the woods. With 6 more inches Ian will take it out on Peregrine. It needs to be run and warmed up and moved around, so Ian used it in the new field, the southern field. I might just ski laps in that field to practice skate skiing. The orthopedic told me skate skiing would be good for my gluteus medius, and the snow looks good!
