The plan is to open for the weekend on the snow that is left and the snow in the forecast.

Closed today, Friday.

The plan is to open for the weekend, March 14th and 15th.

We still have snow, trails are mostly covered. Friday nights forecast is for 2 to 4 inches of snow. With a few more inches on Saturday.

Ian groomed last night. (The photos above were taken by Ian last night as he worked.) He drives around on the snow to break it up so the snow doesn’t freeze flat. And to push snow into the low spots. Today he will use the tiller on the Snow Cat, to grind up the surface and smooth it. Next we wait for the snow in tonight’s forecast, groom the trails again in the morning and you have some decent skiing for the weekend. Ta-da, that is all it takes, she says jokingly.

The low trails will be open. Middle Blue Jay is wet and has quite a few big open areas. Chickadee still needs to be checked. We may be able to open the upper trails to ski “as is” after the temperature warms up and the snow softens. Time will tell.

The road has some wash boarded spots, drive slow. A few ruts, but it isn’t near as bad as we expected it to be.

Rules for driving on muddy/spring roads; go slow, aim high, don’t stop.
