Snow, Cold, and Skiing

Open, -10º at 7am. Partly cloudy. Snow total for the storm 13 inches. Expected high today -4º. Wear your warm clothes. Good powder skiing. Ian is getting a track in the Peregrine, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, and Goshawk. The Chickadee and Loon, Middle and Upper Blue Jay were packed but not tracked, they are and will be a back country ski experience.

These two well dressed snowshoers came with a party of nine. Six snowshoers, and 3 skiers, all warm, happy outdoor enthusiasts. Over 100 people came out in the snow to play yesterday. The skiing was soft and gentle, slow and quiet. The skiing today will still be slow. But while you are out, notice, your skis will squeak in the cold snow.

And the snowskier (snowman) turned into a troll. For a couple years I have told the 4 to 6 year old grandkids we have trolls living under the bridges on the trails. To get over the bridge you must ski very slow and quiet, do not wake the troll, or it will grab your ski poles. They are now old enough to tell me the trolls are actually nice trolls and they really won’t get you. But, this troll, seeking higher ground moved up by the barn.
