Spring skiing today.

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 7 am this morning is 23º. The forecast high is 40º.

The skiing is good. The skiing will slow down later today as the temperature goes up. We may still need Maxiglide today. Spring skiing. Fast in the mornings and sometimes in the shade. Slower in the warm sun and or warm temperatures. Just something to keep in mind as you plan your ski day.

The photos are from the weekend. Saturday Jamie and Hilary skied the Loon. Miles of smiles. And Sunday, two new names on the “Ski all trails in one day” sign-up. If you do the challenge make sure to come in and get a pen to put your name on the list.

And Jonathan and Joe did 50 km yesterday. They skied the “Caldwell Classic” Loop, a 16.6 km loop done 3 times to get to 48.8 km. Just in case you were looking for some fun activity for the day.

Half an inch of snow on a hard pack base. Get your friends out for a ski!

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 6:45 is 21º. The forecast high is 31º. Today is cloudy with a snow shower or two.

We had a half inch of snow overnight and the skiing is good. All trails are open and it would be a great day to do the “ski all the trails in one day” challenge. On the upper trails be prepared for the downhills to be fast. Choose wisely. Some folks love it, some don’t.

Peach has many fans, but this young man is Peach’s number 1 fan. He is as gentle with her as she is with everyone.

And some stats. Today is our 76 day of skiing this season. And total snow fall for the season, 103.2 inches. At the snow stake in the backyard the snow is 30 inches deep. We have stakes on the Upper Blue Jay and the Snow Goose. Both of those are around 33 or 34”. (Back in the snowy 1985-1987 years the snow for the season was 160-180 inches)

Skiing is good. Sun is out and the groomer is out. Fresh corduroy.

Open at 9 am, The temperature at 6:45 is 2º. The forecast high is 28º. And the sun is out! All photos are from this morning.

The groomer is also out on the low trails. Fresh corduroy and the hard pack is softened up. The skiing will be the softest this morning.

The skiing is really good. It has been getting fast toward the end of the day. And now the sun is out and the temperature is going to warm up to 28º. The temperature and the sun affect the skiing. Sun slows the skiing down, but the snow in the shade will stay fast because the temperature is only 28º. Warmer springy weather brings all sorts of different issues.

The Chickadee yesterday had a 5 out 5 star review, and it had one other person a little less excited. It is a great ski. Ian and Reid skied Middle and Upper Blue Jay and said they are lovely skiing for the weekend.

The snow on the low trails groomed up nicely. If you have trouble on hard, hard pack ski early while there is some fresh snow from the fresh groom.

Good skiing.

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 6:30 am is 11 º. The forecast high today is 19º with cloudy skies. We had just a dusting of snow overnight.

The skiing is really good! Hard pack surface, great track and nice firm skate lane. That being said, there are a few people who find hard pack snow fast and unforgiving. It is not icy, but it is harder to ski than packed powder. After the snow is worked during the day, with the cold temperatures at night, it just packs in tighter.

The Chickadee was groomed last night, it will be a really good ski.

For those up to the task it would be a great day to ski all trails, the skiing is quick.
