Moonlight grooming and good skiing!

Open, 5º at 7 am, clear. blue sky and a stunning sunrise. Forecast today, blue sky and 27º.

The skiing is good. Track is like this except for a few spots with thinner snow coverage. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine are all open with mostly good coverage. A few thin spots here and there.

Dick and Ian shoveled on Friday. Saturday the shoveling moved to Snow Goose which was more of a project. The first photo is the largest of the shoveling areas. (out of about a dozen areas total.) The second photo is the after photo of the same spot. Third photo is Dick in the trees scooping shovel fulls of snow and tossing them to a pile. I would shovel up the pile into a sled and pull and dump in on the trail. Ian and Graham were doing the same thing. Forth photo, Dick, Graham, and Ian shoveling and throwing directly onto the trail. Rob did step in after this big spot and took over my shovel. Thanks to all the shovelers yesterday! And the last photo is just a tree down, clean up mess with some shoveling to do. All in all Dick and I both agreed we love to shovel and to be outside. Graham and Ian then groomed all this “new” snow into a wonderful ski trail we know and love as the Snow Goose.

More moonlight grooming get us pretty darn good skiing on 7.5 km

Open, 6º a 7 am. Sunny today with a forecast high of 26º.

Turkey, Woodcock, Grouse, and Peregrine are all groomed up and ready to go. Round and round Ian went in the ranger grinding up the snow making a great skiing surface. Classic and skate skiers both had a great day yesterday.

And watch for animal tracks. The photo of the deer track is on the Peregrine.

Open, 7.5 km.

Open, 13º at 6 am. Loose granular with some powder mixed in.

The photo below is last night’s grooming session. Many trips around, with many different pieces of grooming equipment and a good amount of shoveling. The powder maker has been working overtime. The snow is a little chunky and there are some wet areas to avoid.

Trails open today, 7.5 km, Turkey, Woodcock, Grouse, and Peregrine. NO Snow Goose, too many melted out spots from the rain. Ian is in charge of shoveling assignments. Get hold of him if you’ve got your shovel on. Woodcock and then Snowgoose need the most work.

We still have snow.

Closed Thursday. Hoping to reopen again with some skiing Friday. And looking ok for the weekend.

Storm totals, 2.09 inches of rain. 6/10 of snow after the rain changed to snow.

We will let the water drain and the snow dry out. Then see what Ian can do in the morning. This photo is 9:30 on Thursday morning.
