Open, 23º and 8.4 inches of new snow. Cloudy and a chance of a little more snow during the day.  22 km open, 12 km classic tracks and 6 km skate. Chickadee has been packed with the snow machine. Ian is grooming the low trails with the PistenBully. Skiing will be pretty darn good.

  • Grooming will be in progress during the day. Blue Jay will be packed by mid day.
  • Skating will be soft. Classic skiing is recommended.
  • 9.8 inches of snow total in this storm.
  • The temperature is 24º, but you will need Maxiglide! Because there is a lot of water in the snow.
  • I have done some of the shoveling and this snow is heavy and the bottom is wet and the I am shoveling up dirt in places.
  • Ian only had to use the chainsaw on the Chickadee once, he was surprised he didn’t need it more.
  • And Chuck can only plow the upper parking lot. In the lower lot he would be plowing up mud, dirt, grass, etc.
  • So please park carefully, straight in and as close to your neighbor as opening a car door allows.

Open, 31º and snowing. 1.4 inches of snow at 7am. All trails open, not groomed today. 22 km classic and 6 km skate. Spring skiing with new wet snow. This is a Maxiglide day.

We have been open for all for 100 days. But we have been skiing and open for season pass people for 110 days. That is a lot of days!

Snow today, 3-5 inches predicted. And snow tonight, 3-5 inches predicted. And the wind is going to blow. Mornings like tomorrow are lots of work and usually difficult because sticks and branches are usually in the way. I will let you know in the morning.

Today also includes gathering sap, for the third time and filling the evaporator and starting to boil sap. The first day is long in the sense that the pans need to be “sweetened”. Just about when the sap has boiled off enough water to smell like syrup we will be out of sap and done for the day.

Yesterday’s tracks. 3/20/2019

Open, 28º at 7am. Forecast high 40º and partly cloudy.  Decent spring skiing. Rain expected late in the day.  22 km tracks and 6 km skate.

And there is a storm coming. Rain and snow. Right now we are in the 3-5 inches of snow Thursday night, 1-3 inches on Friday and 3-5 inches on Friday night.  Saturday, winter skiing and Sunday back to spring skiing.

Fire up the evaporator and let’s make some syrup.

We have gathered small amounts of sap twice. We are hoping the sap will run today and we can fire up the evaporator and make some syrup!

Good day for layers, you will be able to take some offers it warms up. Great day for sun glasses and sun screen. A great day over all. You could also find the snow slower in the sun and faster in the shade. Just that kind of day.

Also, the sap may run, if you want to help gather sap that happens at the end of the day, around 4. Come on out, you can help empty buckets. Wear tall boots or gaiters, or you’ll get wet feet!

Empty those buckets!
