The skiing is really good. Trails open today, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Peregrine, Upper Blue Jay, Loon, and CHICKADEE. It is about 20 km. All with a track for classic skiing. And Peregrine, Grouse and Turkey are also packed out with a skate lane.

We hosted a BKL ski race on Monday afternoon. 65-70 kids skied, and it was great. The sun was starting to go down and the temperature was dropping, and it was cold. These kids are wonderful.

The photo above is of the first race of the day. “The Lollipoppers”, the 5 or 6 year olds, and 25 of them, were able to wear Sophie’s World Cup bibs! I don’t know that the little kids knew how special this was, but the adults did. Four age groups total, Kindergarten through 8th grade, it was a great afternoon.

Yesterday was a great day. Good skiing, great skiers, a little windy, but perfect snow!

Ian is out in the groomer, we have enough snow that today he gets to use an enclosed machine with heat.  We do a have a little grade school age ski race here this afternoon starting at 2 pm, but there’s plenty of room for all skiers.

Ski early to avoid the little kid crowd. Or ski and then cheer the kids on, it is pretty darn cute. The ski race will be on the Turkey and the Grouse, so if you are here during the race you have plenty of trails to get out on (Chickadee or Woodcock-Snow Goose), and the only place you will see other skiers is around the barn and the parking lot.

Open, 25º at 7 am, mostly cloudy. Forecast high 29º, cloudy with maybe another flurry of snow.

We have had about 13 inches of snow this week. We are so happy to have winter back.
