An inch of snow overnight and the skiing is good.

Open, 31º and light snow. A little less than an inch overnight. The forecast is for 35º and maybe a little more snow.

The skiing is good. All trails are open, 25 km classic and 10 km skate. The snow is wet, we may or may not need Maxiglide. Ask when you get here.

The Chickadee is spectacular. Watch for porcupine tracks on the Chickadee and on the Woodcock second road crossing. The otters are moving around watch for otter slides on the Loon and along the brook on the Woodcock and Snow Goose.

This ice circle happened on the brook during the last thaw. Keep your eyes open and let me know if you see one.

Open, good skiing, spring like variable conditions. You will need to read the whole post before skiing today.

Open, 18º and a partly sunny day. All trails open. Good skiing with variable springy conditions.

Two items to note today. High school ski race this afternoon. And the conditions change when the temperature goes back and forth between 15º and 35º.

High school race this afternoon. School buses with kids start getting here about noon. The races start at 2:30. If you can ski early you will find it more relaxing and less hectic, around the parking lot and barn. As always once you get out on a one-way trail you will mostly be alone. We will be charging half day rates all morning today, to give you the opportunity to ski when there are less people here.

The snow, when the temperature is around freezing, the snow changes quickly and varies. Fast, slow, sticky and slippery. Just remember this when making plans. For example if you are skiing around the Chickadee, leaving about 2 in the afternoon, the start will be slow and the finish will be fast. Just FYI.

There was a porcupine sighting on the Chickadee yesterday. It scurried up a tree, which is what they do. They will not hurt you, but give them some space and respect. I have a photo I just am having a hard time getting it in a format I can post. The photo is on Instagram in the story section.

1 inch of snow overnight and the skiing is good.

Open, 28º and cloudy. We even had an inch of snow overnight. Expected high 32º and cloudy, maybe even a few snow flakes.

All trails are open and the skiing is really nice. With the new snow and the temperatures around 32º, you may need Maxiglide. Ian spend yesterday working on the Middle and Upper Blue Jay with a shovel and a groomer, check it out today.

Here is an Instagram snippet of yesterday’s skiing.

And, there is a high school ski race here WEDNESDAY afternoon. The kids will start arriving after 12pm. The race starts at 2:30. Ski in the morning on Wednesday for a half day rate. If you get here while the kids are here we will point you in the right direction to help you avoid the kids.

All trails open, skiing is good.

Open, 7º and a clear starry morning. Forecast 33º, sun, clouds, and snow shower, in that order.

All trails open and the skiing is good. 25 classic and 10 km skate. The photo above is out on the Snow Goose. The photos below from the Loon.

Some skiers think the skiing is fabulous, a few skiers think it is hard and fast. I saw many, many, many skiers ski down from the harder longer trails in perfect control. I saw a few more timid skiers take their skis off and walk down. If you are a weak intermediate skier without a strong snowplow, don’t ski the Chickadee until it snows again. There lots of skiers who told me the Chickadee was the best ever. So please use common sense. Remember the snow conditions and the temperature can change a beginner trails to intermediate, and intermediate to expert. And sometimes makes a beginner trail slow and intermediate trail easy. If you don’t know ask for help. And you can always take the Grouse test.
