10 km open, lower trails, shoveling today, not grooming.

Open, 24º at 7 am and cloudy. It snowed about an inch overnight. 29º today and maybe a little more snow.

Today the low trails are open, about 10 km. Ian is not grooming anything today. The tracks on the low trails are soft. The tracks on the Peregrine are “much better”, according to my reporters.

Ian is working on wet spots today. Get in touch with him if you want to help.

The weather thru Thursday looks good for skiing. I am going to say it, Fridays forecast sucks. But, we will do our darnedest to come out the other side with some skiing.

10 km skiing, classic and skate both ok in a few places and good in other places.

Open, 24º at 6:30 am. with a dusting of snow. 10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine.

The skiing is pretty good. A little thin in a few spots, a little wet in a few spots, the ground isn’t frozen yet. But mostly pretty good. Yesterday’s wet snow compacted down and glazed over, so the skiing will be firmer. There was a light dusting of snow overnight.

We have a new sign. Check it out, same spot, with a little twist. Jon and Ian had skied the trails and then are having fun hanging signs.

And we’re open. 26.2 inches of snow, storm total. 22 inches last 24 hours. It is a lot.

Open 30º at 6:30am and snowing. Another 11.8 inches of snow overnight and a grand storm total of 26.2 inches of snow. Not a bad opening day. Open Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk and Peregrine.

Low trails are open to start. About 10 km. There could still be rocks poking up where the snow is thin under the tree canopy. So maybe not your new skis today. And there might be some wet spots out on the Snow Goose and up on the flat part of the Grouse. (Andy or Dick are you shoveling these wet spots?!)

Ian went round and round on Friday and he and Jonathan stared at 4 this morning. The snow cat is out, the Ranger was out, and the snow machine is out, Ian is putting a track in where he can and will be grooming the rest of the morning.

This snow feels wet. The water content in the 22 inches of snow was only 1.1 inches. That is low water content. But it feels wet, the snow sounds wet, and it is slippery after it is plowed. Who knows.

Open Saturday, low trails, 10 km.

This is today.

Open on Saturday morning. December 17! Open at 9 am, close about 4 pm. The low trails, about 10 km.

Eleven inches of snow so far, still snowing, and we are expecting more. How much? Who knows?

Some places the skiing will be really good. Some places, like under the evergreen trees, the snow is a little thin.

But we will be open, and you can ski. I wouldn’t break out the new skis quite yet, remember there are a few thin areas and the occasional rock poking through.
