Ian after a 2 hour ski on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, -6º.

Open, -23º to start the morning. Around 0º by noon. At 7am the wind is not blowing.

The skiing is good. All trails are open. The Chickadee and Middle and Upper Blue Jay were great skiing yesterday. The downhill coming back is cold. Woodcock and Snow Goose are also really good skiing, you slide downhill to begin with and then slight steady uphill (so, warm up) coming back to the touring center. The wind has been blowing, watch out for snow drifts and also for sticks and branches

We had 27 skiers yesterday. All agreed that the skiing is good, and you warm up while skiing.

Everyone had on 3 or 4 layers. Hoods and neck gaiters are super important. Mittens, a good choice! A few people were happy in gloves. A few people were miserable in gloves. If you tend to have cold hands find your mittens. Dry wool socks are also important.

Well, it is a little bit cold out there.

Open, 2º at 7 am and sunny. The temperature falling all day, -6º by noon, -11° by 5pm. A dusting of new snow. All trails are open.

The trails are in excellent shape. Windy and cold, but if you want to ski, we will be here.

Vermonters like to say “no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing,” but today looks quite unpleasant, with cold temps and a breeze all day. Wear a lot of layers and cover up all the skin you can!

Saturday morning will start at -20º, but will warm up to around 6º. Saturday afternoon, while still cold, will be more pleasant. Sunday looks downright balmy at 38º.

A great day for a ski!

Open, 12º at 7 am and partly cloudy. High temp of 28° today. A dusting of new snow. All trails are open. And, animal tracks out there to watch for!

Chickadee was re-groomed last night!

The trails are in excellent shape, and the weather today will be just about perfect. Tomorrow will be different! Vermonters like to say “no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing,” but tomorrow really looks unpleasant, with cold temps and a breeze all day. So ski today!

Same spot, different day

The lower trails were groomed Tuesday night. They have set up beautifully and the dusting of snow last night is like frosting on the cake.

Chickadee was groomed last night, and if you’ve been waiting for Loon, now’s the time!

Well used, good condition

All trails are open!

Open, 3º at 7am. High temp of 19° today. The photo is this morning headed up the Grouse. All trails are open. If you have been waiting for the Loon, this is your chance!

A whole lot of grooming went on last night. A hard pack base with a great track or skate lane. And a dusting of snow on top that looks like powdered sugar.

The skiing is really good. Again, all trails open. Everything but Middle Bluejay groomed last night. The forecast looks like good skiing for the next 4 to 5 days. Then warming up, again. Today’s high 22º, Thursday’s, high 30º, Friday 5º and Saturday 6º.

I know we haven’t practiced much this season with our warmer clothes, but I know we all own them. Get out your long underwear and wool sweaters. Find you neck warmers and mittens. You might need hand warmers or toe warmers. A hood is nice to pull up. And dry clothes for the ride home are a really good idea, because you might work up a sweat while skiing.

Ski while it is cold because warmer weather and the 4 letter “r” word are forecast for late next week, again.

This morning headed down the Woodcock and Turkey.
