How did we weather the storm?

Closed. 31º at 8:00am on Tuesday. The high temperature yesterday was 55º. Storm total for rain was 2.69 inches, and we lost pretty much all the snow we had.

If wishes could turn the rain into snow. Holy cow our day today would be different. Instead we will ditch and drain and get water moving. I know of 2 chain saw jobs on the Snow Goose and I am guessing there are a few more out and about.

The photos below are at the same spots. Ian went out and walked about 10 am. His photos are on the left. I walked at 3:30 pm and my photos are on the right.

I will be in the shop today from 11 to 2, if you would like some Skida merch or to pick up your pass.

Closed for skiing. I will be working in the barn today from 11-2. If you would like to check out the Skida, or get some gloves, or pick up your pass, or get a Christmas present, come on by.

We have been getting some snow. Just not quite enough snow to ski on. Then warm weather and then the 4 letter r-word.

Snow, we just want snow. Last year on the 18th of December we had 26 inches of snow. With cold air, the Monday storm would be close to that. But no cold air, so it’s just going to rain. After Monday the temperatures do look a little colder, and that is a start.

Rain and a little snow.

Closed. 34º at 11:30 am on Monday. The Sunday/Sunday night rain total was 1.25 inches. The switch over to snow started about 6am, and the snow didn’t amount to much, not even an inch. Pretty disappointing. The photo above is from this morning and is headed down the Woodcock. We didn’t lose all the snow, but there are many new bare spots, and many wet spots.

We have been working like crazy to get all the tree debris picked up. But there is just so much this year.

As I type there are snowflakes falling, way better than rain drops, But we really need cold weather and a 6 to 8 inch snow before we can make anything happen.

And if I don’t see another rain drop until May I would be a very happy person!

Early season pass purchase here.

Heavy wet snow. Not quite enough to ski on.

Closed. Link to early season pass.

5.8 inches of heavy wet snow. Again. The temperature at 8 am, 33º. Expected high, 37º. Maybe a few more snow showers.

When this snow freezes it, will again, make great base in most areas. But this type of snow gets caught in the evergreens, leaving bare ground underneath. And because it rained before it snowed, there are problematic wet spots.

We almost had enough snow last week. But……..then we had warm rain, which was dreary and disgusting took most of the base. So with this new snow we are starting over. I feel like I might be in the Groundhog Day movie.
