Good spring skiing. Fast early and late, slower in the middle of the day.

Open, 10º at 7 am. Good spring skiing. Fast in the morning, slowing down during the middle of the day, fast again late in the day. 10º this morning, high 30º and sunny.

23 km open. Everything but the Loon. For a few people the skiing is too hard/fast. A whole bunch of people love how it skis. And the rest of us are somewhere in the middle.

The sun is shining, the sky is blue and it is nice outside. If you want to be outside, and the skiing is too fast for you, you can snow shoe.

As for the moose, it was spotted twice, once on the Middle Blue Jay and then again on the Upper Blue Jay/Chickadee. Moose droppings found on the Upper Blue Jay. Watch for the moose and if you are lucky enough to see him, be respectful and give him space. The photo above was taken by our friend Eric and this is a screen shot from a video taken from way farther back. It is blurry because it was cropped.

Race in the morning. Spring skiing happening now.

Open, 10º at 6 am. 10º this morning, high 30º and sunny. Fast early and late. Slower in the middle of the day. 23 km open. This is the kind of skiing makes some people smile from ear to ear loving every second. And some folks switch to snow shoes. Most people are somewhere in between.

Kids race in the morning. Skiing for everyone else will be more pleasant in the afternoon.

Yesterday on the Middle Blue Jay. The snow was the softest on that one loop.

A few more details; fast in the morning, slowing down during the middle of the day, fast again late in the day. Ian groomed the Turkey and Grouse last night with 2 tracks. He groomed the down track from the upper trails, up and down with the snow cat 5 times. The rest of the trails will soften with the temperature and the sun. Ask in the shop if you have any questions.

This is an old race day photo. Today will be Klister if you have skis to wax.

The skiing is really nice, and I saw the moon and some stars this morning.

Open, 19º at 6:30 am. Forecast high today 27º, partly sunny skies. Fun, loose granular surface with nice tracks.

20 km open. Woodcock, Turkey, Snow Goose, Grouse, Peregrine, most of Chickadee, and Upper Blue Jay. Loose granular surface, groomed last night and this morning. Another beautiful day to ski.

The first photo is of the tracks for today. They went in nicely and they are solid, photo taken this morning. The middle shot is grooming going on last night about 8. And the third is the moon from this morning. It was really nice to see the moon and the stars. And sounds like we’ll get a glimpse of the sun today.

The skiing is really good today.

The skiing will be really good tomorrow also. BUT we have a race here tomorrow morning, Sunday, the 4th for kids ages 5-13. They start first thing in the morning and should be wrapping up and headed out of here around noon. The race is on the Turkey and Grouse. Once you are away from the parking area you would be one of the only skiers on the Snow Goose, or Chickadee. Or you could wait and ski after 1:00 pm.

Please remember to drive slowly and carefully on the roads coming in and out of here. And please stop at the stop sign at the end of the road when leaving. Our neighbors would really appreciate it.

Half inch of new snow, makes for a great ski.

Open, 30º at 6:30 am. A half inch of new snow. Forecast high today 34º and continued clouds.

17 km open. Woodcock, Turkey, Snow Goose, Grouse, Peregrine, and most of Chickadee. A beautiful day to ski.

Amazing how it doesn’t take much new snow to make the woods beautiful again, we have the whole snow globe effect.

You might need your MaxiGlide. Right this minute the skiing is great. It could get a little sticky, and then it could get a little slick. Or it might not. The nature of the beast this year. When the temperature is this close to 32º day and night, the snow changes with very little temperature change. There can be variable conditions on the trails, depending on the spot and what’s underneath the snow.

Planning skiing for the weekend: Saturday looks like good weather and good skiing. Sunday is good weather, good skiing with a great big BUT – we have a kids race Sunday morning. The racing starts at 10. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 11:45. Plan on an afternoon ski for fun Sunday.

A special thanks to our sign elf, whoever you are. (I think I know!) What a great surprise.
