Hard and fast early. Softening as the temperature rises and with the sun.

Open, 3º at 7 am, clear sky and the sun is rising. Forecast high 33º, and sunny.

23 km open, loose frozen granular surface on a hard pack base. Spring skiing at its finest. It will be hard and fast early, and soften with the temperature and the sun. This photo is from this morning.

If you are an strong intermediate or expert skier and ski the Chickadee, watch for fox tracks. Reports are the fox has been all over up there.

I know there are people planning to ski every trail today. This would be a good day for it. If you start early while it is fast you could probably do all trails twice. I will put a new sign up sheet on the board.

My best guess for skiing the next few days, by looking at the weather report, and knowing how much snow is on the ground; Monday will be still be good spring skiing. Tuesday will be spring skiing and warm. Wednesday we will be closed if the prediction is correct and it rains. Maybe some snow flurries on Thursday. Who knows about next weekend. Ski while you can.

Loose frozen granular skiing. We love our powerful machine!

Open, 18º at 7 am, cloudy. Forecast high 18º, and the sun might poke it’s way thought the clouds.

17 km open, loose frozen granular surface on a hard pack base. Piston Bully groomed this morning, that means power tiller on the low trails. Keep reading……….

Specifics, Ian used this machine on the low trails, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, and Peregrine. Jonathan was on the snow machine on the Chickadee. The Chickadee won’t be as ground up as the low trails. Think of it as expert today. No grooming was done on the Upper and Middle Blue Jay. And the poor Loon is still waiting patiently for a foot of new snow.

This skiing is ; fast/fun for some, fast/ok to good for many, fast/not fun for a few.

One inch of new snow on a packed powder base.

Open, 30º at 7 am, and snowing. Forecast high 40º, snow this morning and maybe a little sun this afternoon. You will need Maxi Glide on no wax skis. (Ask if you don’t know.)

23 km open, packed powder base, with new snow on top. We are not grooming today. The skiing is good. Middle and Upper Blue Jay will be especially nice today. The snow is sticking to the trees and it is beautiful out.

Cold tonight, 13º. Saturday’s high 18º and Saturday night around 0º. Sunday around 34º. Looks like a great weekend to get outside and ski.

Ian and Graham in the photo above in our field. They took Gretchen on an adventure on Wednesday. The three of them skied from Mad Tom Notch Rd to Griffith Lake. On to Old Job and down to Landgrove on the snow mobile trail. About 30 km.

Another great ski day. The weather is changing, get out and ski.

Open, 14º at 6 am, a great sun rise to blue sky. Forecast high 38º, with sun and clouds.

23 km open. Ian groomed Turkey and Grouse last night. The skiing is fantastic, this is as good as it gets, the snow, the weather, the temperature, the blue sky. (The exception is a short snowless walk up the first south facing hill on Chickadee but your skis are off anyway after walking across the dirt road.)

Everyone has been skiing the last couple of weeks, moms and kids, dads and kids, kids skiing, kids being pulled. This has been a great stretch of weather to get kids out on skis.

A few stats; we have been open for skiing 41 days. Snow total for the season, 52.4 inches. Not much snow. Ten inches in December (it all melted), 32.5 inches in January, and 10.1 inches so far in February. All things considered, we have had some really good skiing.
