We are skiing on 10 km, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, and Peregrine.

The skiing is good. I have been recommending old skis. Mary reported back, “the skiing is good and the coverage fine and next time she is bringing out her new skis.”

Watching the long range weather forecast, (which feels like a full-time job) the skiing will be good thru the 8th, with a little snow on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. The forecast is calling for a little warm up. The long way of saying, the skiing is good now, get out and ski.

Pretty darn good early skiing season.

Open 18º at 6 am and a half inch of new sparkly beautiful snow.

10 km open, Grouse, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and Peregrine. Tracks set on Grouse, Turkey and Peregrine.

The coverage is thin, but the skiing is good. I love having cold temperatures and snow on the ground, the best combination! My advice to you is ski it while we can.

The photo above is from yesterday. As you can see from the snow we had many, many skiers. Ian did a little grooming last night and cleaned it up. Who will get first tracks today?

10 km open. Decent skiing! A great day to be outside.

Open, 21º at 7 am. 10 km skiing open, Turkey, Grouse, Woodcock, Snow Goose, and Peregrine. Decent skiing with a few rocks poking thru. Skating will be a little soft and bumpy. Ian put a track on Turkey, Woodcock, and Peregrine. I would use rock skis, but that is just me. The photos below are from this morning in my corner of the field.

The snow total from the storm was 13.1 inches. The snow has settled some, and at the measuring stake is now 10 inches. The snow had a really high water content and we wanted it to dry out before we skied on it. Between 2 and 3 Friday afternoon the snow went from wet, to dry and powdery. And about 5 pm there were even a few snow flakes.

What a treat to be able to ski in November!

Open for skiing on Saturday, the 30th of November.

Closed Friday. Open Saturday. The temperature at 6 am is 28º AND the storm total for snow……..13.1 inches.

That is a lot of snow. It is enough snow to ski on. BUT not today! Today we have to stay off the trails. The ground underneath is wet and the snow is wet and needs time to dry out and settle. Remember the ground wasn’t frozen, there was not a snow base and we had just had rain. This snow has a very high moisture content.

So today, we will plow and groom, and pick up sticks and cut trees off the trail, and plan on seeing you tomorrow.
