Closed Wednesday and Thursday

We will be closed Wednesday for rain and Thursday, hoping to dry out. I will let you know our plan as soon as we can make one.

It has been a great season so far. And there is more good skiing coming our way. Snow dances everyone!

Glazed surface to start the day, slowing down when new snow falls.

Open, 30º at 6 am. No new snow overnight. The snow was wet yesterday, and that leaves a glazed surface that will be faster than the last week of skiing. Some people will love it and some folks will find it slippery. When it starts to snow, the new snow will slow the skiing right down.

The temperature for today is around 34º with 3-5 inches of snow expected. Tonight’s forecast is a winter mix. Tomorrow sounds like a mixed bag of weather too.

But the snow is on the ground. The skiing will be ok. And definitely better than Wednesday. We will be closed on Wednesday, unless somehow the snow gods show up unexpectedly. (It is not the forecast, the Wednesday forecast is for the 4 letter “r” word.)

On a happy note, this clinic happened yesterday afternoon;

New snow and a great day for a ski!

Open, 25º at 7 am. 1.5 inches of snow overnight. 17 km open for skiing. Grooming and plowing happening now.

The skiing is really nice. If the temperature warms up to around 32º you will need Maxiglide on your no-wax skis. If you don’t know about Maxiglide. Ask in the shop.

Woodcock and Snow Goose are quite lovely. Chickadee has a couple rocks showing through, but they are easy to spot.

We had many skiers yesterday. Two early skiers did 20 km, training for the “ski all the trails in one day ski”.

And…..the Chickadee is open.

Open, 19° at 6 am. Packed powder with a half-hearted attempt at a dusting of new snow.

17 km of skiing. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, Peregrine, and Chickadee. The tracks are nice and the skate lane has set up. The Chickadee is open, coverage is ok. Quite a few rocks hiding just below the surface. Expect some bumps and humps. No Loon, but Waite’s Place Loop is groomed and open. The best place to be on a winter day.

On a machine again last night. The work of the groomer never ends.

So we added another machine to the fleet.

Today will be the best skiing of the next few days. Sunday will be ok, but with new snow and the temperature around 32º, the snow will be sticky and Maxiglide will be needed. Monday looks ok. But we will close next week any day that rain is in the forecast to preserve the base.
