Open at 9 am and ready to go. A high on Thursday near 18º and less wind. Skiing is good, nice firm tracks and skate lanes. Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Turkey, Goshawk, and Peregrine all open. And……………

We’d like to announce the shoveling team has done it! The Chickadee is open. Total km now open, 16.5. Most of Chickidee is A-OK. But there are a few thin spots, and there is not enough snow to set tracks out there. If you spot a member of the Shoveling Dream Team, tell them thanks!

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 7 am is 9º, clear sky, and windy. The skiing surface is really nice hard pack. Tracks are solid and the skate lane is firm. 10 km open, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Turkey, Goshawk, and Peregrine.

The dream team has been working on the Chickadee. They are getting there. 200 yards to go, under the hemlocks. So no snow to move around. They are working on it. Yesterday 4 people 4 hours, and 2 people 3 more hours. Looks so promising, except where there was no base. Powder snow does not make good base.

Open at 9 am. The temperature at 6 am is 6º. The forecast high for today is 15º. It is cloudy and there is a chance of a snow flurry or two. The lake effect snow over the last 4 days gave us about 10 inches of very light, fluffy snow. It has given us a great surface for skiing. The wind has blow all night, so expect some wind blown snow here and there.

So, the snow is cold and wind blown. It is absolutely wonderful skiing. However, cold, windblown snow is slow. If you do not like speed, or want easy skiing, dress warm and get out here today, or tomorrow, or the next day….The forecast is looking good for a number of great ski days.

Open at 9 am. The current temperature is 3º. The forecast high is 15º and partly sunny, 10 km open, Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse, Goshawk, and Peregrine. Ian is in the snow cat and the skiing will be as close to perfect as it gets. Fluffy, light and soft powder snow. Another 2.5 inches of snow since yesterday morning.

The trail gnome was spotted working on the Peregrine yesterday. He found lots of clipping to do. I clip out there in the off season, and I still can’t get it up to Dick’s standards. When you see Dick out on the trails, say hey, and give him a huge thanks. If you have a snack for him that would be great. He sometimes is out there for hours.
