Two Days Off, We Hope To Be Open Again Saturday

Closed, 31º, cloudy and the trees are covered with ice.

In the north field on Wednesday, 2/6/2019.

The forecast is for 36º today.  The ice will melt out of the trees. Tonight 32º and periods of rain and freezing rain. Tomorrow, warmer and still rain showers. The high temperature on Friday around 43º with the temperature falling Friday night. Saturday morning, the low 10º.

With that forecast, our plan is to be closed Thursday and Friday. And be open again Saturday morning, God willing and the creek don’t rise. Ian will start grooming as early Saturday morning as the temperatures allow. And I know there will also be some shoveling involved. If you want to be part of a shovel crew let me know.

As you can see from yesterday’s picture and grooming, we still have lots of snow and we plan to be back in action ASAP!

Snow, Skiing, Fun and Sun

Open, 19º and sunny. Clouding up later. We are skiing on the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, and the Goshawk to the Upper Peregrine. Ski where Ian has groomed. He is grinding up the snow, it is a loose granular. VERY skiable, but fast. And after Monday fast is welcome.

The weather as all of you know turned a little warm this week. Now it is cold again. We still have lots of snow! The forecast is for fairly miserable weather on Thursday and Friday, we plan to be closed those 2 days. Reassessing Friday night and hoping to be open for the weekend.

We Have Skiing!

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 39º at 7am. Cloudy skies. The forecast high is around 40º with the temperature dropping during the day. Loose frozen granular snow, so faster than yesterday. 24 km classic and 4.5 km skate trails open.

Photo from December 2018…not today!

The weather is taking a temporary blip. Warm then cold, and over again. So the skiing will be faster for the next few days.

We have been officially open for skiing 59 days, and skiing in some capacity for 69 days. At the stake we are measuring 23 inches of snow. The snow at the stake has been as high as 30 inches. At this rate maybe we can hit 100 days of skiing. That is an amazing goal.

A little taste of spring this week. Great spring skiing. You won’t be cold. Another great day to ski the Chickadee. Watch for animal tracks, a coyote has been wandering all over up on the Peregrine. There are turkeys up there too. Lots of rabbit and weasels. Someone came in the Saturday and thought they saw moose tracks. Let me know what you see. With the warm weather the animals will move a little more looking for food.
