2 inches of new snow! 10 km open.

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 25º, 2 inches of new snow overnight. The forecast high today is 34º and cloudy. 10 km open. Turkey, Woodcock, Snow Goose, Grouse and Peregrine. 10 km, classic and 6 km skate.

Good skiing. It will be slower than yesterday.

The upcoming weather looks a little boring. After today the temperature will stay under 30º for a high and the nights are 20º or under. That is all good. There is no rain in the forecast, that is also good. We would love some more snow in the forecast. But, we have some base and we will ski on that base and this 2 inches of snow and Ian will groom the crap out of it. And we will be happy about it!

Maxiglide will be needed on no wax skis today as the temperature will be around 32º  with new snow. And that is the Maxiglide combo.

The photo……New season pass holders as of this year. Alexandra took a lesson with Sverre. She and her partner bought a couples season pass. They are skiing. Often! Here is their break in the “Covid” shed. And then off to get in another lap.

Two items come out of the above paragraph.

Sverre is available to teach this week. By appointment! (More about Sverre in a post from last Spring.) And to try to make it easier, let’s say 11:00am. To book an appointment call us and schedule. THIS IS AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!! Sverre is the best. And if not THE best then ONE of the best. Let us know. First phone call gets the first appointment. And because of Covid we can’t let everyone be in one big lesson.

Second item. The Shed. After looking at this photo, I am thinking a pot of hot cocoa and some cookies in here. Does anyone have an air pot they would donate to the cause? And I’ve been wanting to make cookies.

Open, 10km loose granular

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Open, 23º at 7 am and cloudy.

10 km of a loose granular base. It is skiable and quick. Ian is working on/hoping to have Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse and Peregrine open. Check in with the parking lot attendant when you get here, just to make sure he didn’t find any surprises, like wet spots, out on the trail.

The snow total from Friday night/Saturday morning was 3.5 inches of snow. It was heavy and wet. It had .59 inches of water in that small amount of snow. From what we have seen so far the snow has dried out nicely. But wet spots are the surprises Ian will be looking for.

Remember all the Covid safety rules. Stay home if you are sick. Masks in the parking lot and base area. And sign in on the Covid contact tracing form.

Closed, waiting for the mess to dry out.

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Closed, 30º at 9:30am and snowing.  About an inch of snow fell before the precipitation turned to freezing rain and ice. The bottom layer is really wet. The good news is, now it is snowing!

We will remain closed until this mess dries out.

And it will dry out. Ian will groom what he can and we will have something to ski on ASAP. Maybe!!! tomorrow.

We will get you outside and skiing as quickly as we can. If you go out to walk today please be careful, use ice grippers on your shoes and maybe take a ski pole.

Closed. We need some new snow!

ra-5a4bd91746f71523

Closed, 18º and sunny skies. Forecast high today is 32º, with “weather” moving in tonight. 3-5 inches of snow and ice expected. At least weather forecasts are talking about snow. We are moving in the right direction.

If we could place an order, we would order sleet. Sleet makes great base. Sleet is a wonderful equalizer. We need a net gain of 3-5 inches of snow/sleet. So put on your dancing boots and get your snow dances on!

We will open again as quickly as we can.  I will post in the morning ASAP.

Photo is from December 21, 2020. Just a feel good, this is what we want it to look like photo.

For today; May you be well. May you be safe. May you be peaceful and at ease. And may you be filled with loving kindness.
