Open at 9 am. The temperature at 6 am is 28º. The forecast high is 37º. At 6 am we have a dusting of new snow, and snow is falling.
All trails are open. Ian and the Snow Cat groomed the low trails last night. Skiing this morning will still be winter powder conditions. With the temperature going above freezing for the first time in a while, the skiing will change also. Wet, slow snow this afternoon.
When spring conditions arrive expect, fast skiing early and late in the day, and slow skiing in the middle of the day, when the temperature goes above freezing and/or the sun is out.
And for the next 36 hours there are snow flakes in the forecast which also effects the ski/snow conditions.
Some years the snow and temperature go up and down every day all winter. We are coming off a chunk of steady cold temperatures. It has been about a month of steady cold temperatures and lovely snow. There is nothing at all wrong with spring skiing. Spring skiing is lovely! Just different.
Photo above is our friend Ben on the Loon. Ben is eleven and he found his ski legs on their ski trip this year! Harriet is cheering him on from the other side.
I forgot to add we are going to be on TV tonight WCVB, the abc station out of Boston. Erika and her crew were in the area in early February and the show is live streamed on WCVB.com at 7:30 tonight or will be posted to the Chronicle WCVB YouTube page once it airs. Two photos below from Erika’s instagram reel.
