Open, 8º mostly sunny. The forecast is for clouding up and snowing later in the day. Ian is grooming the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Goshawk and Peregrine. They have groomed out great, and the surface is a sugary, loose frozen granular. The skiing is really nice.
Open,9º at 7am and partly cloudy. Ian has been out going round and round. The snow is drying out and is nice and sugary, and pretty fast. So, for Saturday, 10 km classic and 4.5 km skate. Maybe, with a little luck, we will be able get chickadee open. Maybe.
Closed. 23º at 6:30 and partly cloudy. We will be checking out the trails and opening as soon as possible. It might be this afternoon. We will be looking for the snow to dry out and freeze up and checking for flooding on the Woodcock and Snow Goose.
Closed, 38º at 7am, and raining. We will be closed today. Given the forecast, we are planning on 10 km as quick as we can. We hope to get something open for the weekend, but that might depend on some snow falling after the rain.
Trails are in great shape! Looking really good for winter and ready for snow. Walking on the trails right now is lovely. If you take your dog/dogs out to walk, make sure to leash them. Other dogs, porcupines, bears, fisher cats and turkeys have been spotted this year.
Carry a knapsack. If you overdress you can carry your extra clothes.
When Nordic skiing we all warm up quite a bit. So that makes it a great sport for cold weather (No chairlift). Sweating does happen. A dry shirt to wear for your second lap and/or to wear home is really nice.
