Open, 20º at 6:30 am and cloudy, a fluffy inch or so of new snow yesterday. Forecast for today, 31º, and cloudy. All trails open. Skiing is really good again today. Great tracks, firm skate lane, a little fresh snow on top.
The temperature remaining under 31º and the sky staying cloudy should keep the skiing from changing too much today. On days when we start cold, go above freezing, and/or if the sun is out, skiing can change hourly.
Watch in the new snow for animal tracks. Snowshoe hare, fisher cats, bobcats, and the smaller mink, squirrel, etc. We usually have an otter go through during February or March and we haven’t seen the tracks from the otter yet this year. It slides from up on Waite’s Place Loop down the brook and out the Snow Goose. We have not seen that yet this year. As you’re skiing, remember to look around.
