Open For Skiing Again

Open, 16º at 6:30 am, cloudy, with a red sunrise. Expected high 25º and cloudy skies. Ian is in the groomer putting in some tracks and rolling out some corduroy. He started on Chickadee, and is working on the Woodcock, Snow Goose, Turkey, Grouse, Peregrine. I will update as I know more. Loon and the Bluejays will be fun  but watch out for branches or downed trees.

We had 2.5 inches of new snow. There was some rain and really, really wet snow mixed in early Thursday morning, then the snow fell and the wind blew. The wind helps dry the snow out, and the cold temperatures harden the snow back up.

So, we now have a very workable surface. Ian is using all the groomers today to get the best skiing we can with the snow we have. It looks good.

Expect frozen granular snow mixed with a powdery snow. a little fast, not slow. Too much new snow to use straight klister. Hard wax would work if reapplied after much distance.

And a chance for another 1-3 inches of snow today. The skiing for the weekend will be good!
