Open, 17º and snowing. One inch of snow. The forecast high 25º with another couple of flakes of snow during the day. The skiing is great! All trails open, (except Loon) 22 km of classic skiing and 6 km of skate.
The skiing is wonderful. Between the snow and Ian’s grooming, the skiing is great. And now another inch of snow on top, does not get much better.
Woodcock and Snow Goose are a great really nice scenic 2.5 mile loop. Make sure to watch for otter tracks.
The Chickadee is longer and the uphills at the beginning can seem intimidating, stop and rest and keep going, it is worth it. The other day Ian came in and said when he re-groomed the Chickadee, no one had walked down any of the hills. What! Don’t walk down the hills. Practice, learn to ski the downhills, and if you still can’t do it, turn and side step down. And if you enjoyed Waite’s Place Loop, turn and ski it twice.
Please note, new snow, and falling snow make the woods quiet. While you are out skiing notice the silence. Listen to the brook, and the sound of your skis. Stop and smell the roses.
