Good skiing. All trails open.

Open at 9 am. The temperature this morning is starting at -3º. The forecast high is 22º with sun.

The skiing is good! Ian groomed the skate lane on the Turkey, Woodcock, and Snow Goose. The track is solid, the skate lane is firm. We have one more day of winter skiing. Tuesday spring skiing returns with sun and a high of 40º. Wednesday looks like rain. And if it is rain all day we will be closed. Thursday is unknown, but if rainy, then closed. Looks like we should be able to get some skiing again after that. But be thinking spring skiing. Fast in the morning and after the sun sets. Slow in the middle part of the day. Just start being prepared for variable conditions everyday.

The photos above are from Sunday. Erin and Jane, students from the Burr and Burton Nordic Ski Team, planned and executed a great “Ski all the trails in one day event”. They signed the sheet. They recorded their ski on Strava, 15.2 miles or 24.4620288 km. And they were rightfully very proud of themselves. Yesterday was a great day to ski it, and so is today, the skiing is quick and easy. Saturday would have been miserable.

So a little side note about “quick and easy skiing”. In this instance quick and easy applies if you are a strong skier, and find quick and easy fun. There are people who do not find quick and easy, easy at all.

I wish I’d stayed an extra two days. Glad everyone got to eke out a few wonderfully cold snowy days Cross Country Skiing. There’s nothing better! Enjoy.
