Local EV Charging Stations

There are a few charging stations near Wild Wings you should know about if you are an EV driver. The closest one is Seesaw’s Lodge, is only a level 2 but could get you out of a jam if you find your EV low on charge. Ideally a place to stay and charge over night. It is near Bromley Mountain and Bromley Market. The others are DC fast chargers and are a bit farther away. I’m leaving comments open so you can write comments that might help other EV drivers with these charging stations.

These stations are all networked which means their status is available online though this is not always up-to-date. One app that shows information on all brands of chargers is PlugShare. Confirm availability there or on the app associated with the charger you want to use.

Peru

These 3 chargers are public and use an app called EVPassport and are 7.7kW J1772 (Level 2). There is a QR code on the charger for the app and payment. Find the location on PlugShare. 3574 VT-11 Peru, VT 05152.

Manchester Center

Livingston DC fast charging station in Manchester Center uses the ViaLynk app which is probably one worth downloading as it seems quite common in VT. Unfortunately they do not provide a RFID card. These chargers are tucked way out back behind the Wallgreens and are rated on PlugShare as 150kW though when I was there one was downrated 125kW. All 8 handles are CCS, 4 were out of service when I was there. Check status on PlugShare. 4993 Main St, Manchester Center, VT 05255.

Also in Manchester Center is a 50kW Green Mountain Power station in the Northshire Bookstore parking lot reached just north of the traffic circles on Rt 30. Turn at the Josiah Allen Real Estate sign and proceed over the speed bump. At the time of this posting the CCS connector was not working. Only Chademo (connector for the original Nissan Leaf) was available, according to PlugShare. Payment via the Vialynk app. 4869 Main St, Manchester Center, VT 05255, USA

Winhall/Bondville

Likely the fastest charging station in New England as of this date. I suppose that’s why the owner posted charging recommendations suggesting you preheat your battery before arriving so you can utilize the 400kWs of power. Not many EVs can take that much but it is always good to preheat so you’ll get the fastest charge your car will allow. This station is near Stratton ski area so expect it to be busier when the lifts close. Of the 4 handles, 2 are NACS and 2 are CCS. Find it on PlugShare here. The app is called Monta Charge but there is a credit card reader that worked for me. Also there is WiFi provided by the station with access info posted in the charger’s suggestions as seen above. 40 VT-30, Winhall, VT 05340, USA. This could be the only station in Vermont that provides windshield squeegees and WiFi.
