CLOSED! 25º at 7am with an expected high of 31º. The snow is frozen and hard. We need more. We are closed until it snows 4 to 6 inches. Of course it depends on the snow, light fluffy snow we need more, heavy, sleety kind of snow, less.

YESTERDAY: Turned out to be a great day. Because of the forecast I had thought all week we wouldn’t be open yesterday. But the storm, warm front came through late in the day and the skiing was of, spring skiing all day. Quite a few people came by and enjoyed a great day outside.
On Thursday moose tracks and many piles of scat were seen on Upper Blue Jay and Waite’s Place Loop, the moose crossed the road in the afternoon and headed out toward the Chickadee and Loon. A moose siting on the trail would be an acceptable time to turn around and go backward on a trail. (But, you won’t see one.)

WHAT THAT MEANS FOR TODAY: Yucky, hard snow and not enough of it to grind up.

ABOUT THE DIRT ROAD: The road is now frozen again, with the ruts and potholes as they were yesterday. Sometime in the next couple days I would guess the nice road crew guys will smooth it out. Until them continue to drive slow and aim high. (Aim high means try to get your tires on the highest part of the dirt. Avoid putting your tires in the ruts, it is then easier to high center your vehicle.)
But if you absolutely can’t do mud and ruts, stick to the pavement.

This is a weather blog and the fella is up in Mad River Glen. So, north of us remember that as you read. But he is interesting and he talks about weather patterns which are very applicable to us.
